The Argentine driver Juan Carlos Iglesias died about 11h00 o'clock on Saturday, 20 April 2019 in the Hospital Alemán of Buenos Aires, two weeks after A crash at the Autódromo Santiago "Yaco" Guarnieri in Resistencia, province of Chaco in northern Argentina.
On Saturday, 06 April 2019, the track hosted a practice session in sight of the opening round of the 2019 Campeonato Chaqueño de Automovilismo Unificado (Province of Chaco Unified Racing Championship), organised by APAC (Asociación de Pilotos de Automóviles de Competición) and sanctioned by the Federación Chaqueñas de Automovilismo.
About 14h00 during the Class 2 - Monomarca Fiat 128 session Juan Carlos Iglesias lost control of his Fiat 128 #90, which crashed and caught fire. In a few moments more, flames engulfed the car. Firefighters failed to rescue him in time and only when his twin brother Juan Manuel Iglesias with fellow driver Juanky Polini arrived from the pits, the driver was extricated from the burning car, almost five minutes after the crash.
Juan Carlos Iglesias was immediately taken to the Sanatorio Güemes and then transferred to the Hospital Perrando in Buenos Aires, where he was treated for first his injures. In critical condition and with respiratory assistance, the following Monday he was airlifted to the intensive care unit of the Hospital Alemán of Buenos Aires with a plane of the Asociación Argentina de Volantes. He never recovered and succumbed to his injuries on 20 April of that year. He was 40 years old.
