00:00 Pakistan's former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Saturday said that he was ousted from the
00:07 government in 1999 by General Parvez Musharraf for opposing the Kargil as he thought that
00:13 it was important to have good relations with India.
00:16 The three-time prime minister questioned why he was ousted from the office of the prime
00:20 minister prematurely.
00:21 Speaking to party ticket aspirants for upcoming polls, Sharif sought an explanation for his
00:26 dismissals in 1993 and 1999, highlighting that his dissent on the Kargil plan, proven
00:33 right later, led to his ouster.
00:35 "I should be told why I was ousted in 1993 and 1999.
00:40 When I opposed the Kargil plan, saying it should not happen, I was ousted by General
00:44 Parvez Musharraf.
00:45 And later, what I said proved right," Sharif said.
00:49 The Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz PMLN Supreme Leader said that on all three occasions being
00:54 the premier, he was delivering, but he was sent packing and that he did not know why.
01:00 Stressing that Pakistan needed to improve relations with India and other neighbouring
01:03 countries, he said, "We will have to improve our relations with India, Afghanistan and
01:08 Iran.
01:09 We need to make stronger relations with China."
01:11 Discussing diplomatic achievements during his tenure, Sharif pointed out that two Indian
01:16 prime ministers, Modi and Vajpayee, visited Pakistan, according to the report.
01:20 He underscored the need to strengthen relations with India.
01:22 Afghanistan, Iran and China expressing regret over Pakistan's economic lag behind its
01:27 neighbours.
01:28 In criticism of the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf government led by jailed former chairman Imran
01:33 Khan, Sharif attributed economic challenges to Khan's administration and credited his
01:38 brother Shahbaz Sharif's government for stabilising the country in April 2022.
01:43 He also reiterated his demand for accountability of former military generals and judges for
01:47 ruining the country by ousting his government in 2017, saying, "Those who brought this
01:51 country to this level should be made accountable as patriotic people can't do this to their
01:56 country.
01:57 We do not want to come into power to roam around in luxury cars, but we want accountability
02:01 of those who ruined this country and made false cases against us."
02:06 A month before his return to Pakistan after four years of self-imposed exile in the UK,
02:10 Mr Sharif had hinted at bringing former Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa, former ISI
02:16 head Lieutenant General Faiz Hamid and former Chief Justices of Pakistan Saqib Nisar and
02:21 Asif Saeed Khosa for their crime of ousting his government and causing economic disaster.
02:25 Mr Sharif is holding meetings daily to award party tickets for the February 8 general elections
02:31 next year.
