00:00 big change. What happened at that point where Auburn started to turn the tide on this game?
00:07 I thought both teams came out ready to play. I mean from a physical standpoint, we couldn't
00:14 really move the ball. I mean I just look back at our very first play that we tried to execute.
00:21 You know that's just how they play and I thought even with that we overcame early their physicality
00:29 and made shots and got stops and got rebounds and then you know I made some substitutions and I'm
00:39 not putting it on our bench because when I put our stars back in the game the score was tied and
00:46 then they just physically took us out of everything that we wanted to do so you got to give them
00:51 credit. I'm not happy with the way we played tonight. I mean it's just it's kind of like a
00:58 carbon copy of a UConn game where they couldn't score, we couldn't score, it was back and forth
01:06 and then finally we just caved in and that's something we got to get better in that area.
01:13 Putting a 40-minute ball game, I thought we came out ready to play. I mean up 12,
01:18 can't have a lopsided game like that. That's kind of on me.
01:22 Mike you gave up 104 points but also only forced three turnovers. What was the problem specifically?
01:32 That was the difference. You just got to hit it on the head. Three turnovers, I say that they were
01:41 the most visible team tonight and in a game like this you got to force more turnovers, get more
01:48 stops. The rebound wasn't that big of a difference but I just thought physically they were the better team tonight.
01:59 Jeff and Todd?
02:00 Yeah Coach, like you said you guys got up 22-10 and then when the starters came out I think it was a 20-4 Auburn run.
02:07 Was there any thought of maybe not taking Ware and Bacow and Renaud Papp at the same time?
02:16 Was there any thought of not taking them? I kind of substitute pretty much the same way every game.
02:23 You can't just burn them. Bottom line was when my starters got back in the game it was probably a close tied game.
02:32 And the same guys that were on the floor when we started the game went the other way.
02:39 That was the difference in the ball game. You can't play them for 40 minutes. You got to play some of your bench guys.
02:48 And I believe in my bench so I went to my bench. It was my bench in the Michigan game that helped us win the game.
02:55 Todd and Mike?
02:57 Mike, Colell and Malik were both listed questionable before the game. They obviously played but was there anything
03:03 first of all why were they questionable and secondly anything that you feel like it affected them in terms of being able to play physically?
03:09 No, I mean again I'm not using that as an excuse. They started the game and we didn't play well as a unit.
03:19 I got to get us in a better position. Especially when we're playing teams like that.
03:25 We got a big week this week coming up where we got to play Kansas. We got a week to prepare.
03:31 I got to get us in a better place where we can put a 40 minute ball game together against a really good D team.
03:39 Mike, in terms of the second half you said you caved in a little bit. Do you want to see more fire for your players in those moments?
03:49 Or leadership on the court? Do you think that's been lacking in those moments where you could go either way and turn it back?
03:55 Again, not having an exit, I'm not using that as an excuse. He's a senior point guard that could score the ball and make plays for us.
04:05 Especially when we're being pressured like we were. That hurt.
04:11 But again, you showed wonderful signs tonight against a good team early on and we just didn't sustain it over the 40 minute ball game.
04:21 I'll wrap up this up. You mentioned UConn earlier. You guys were off for a straight month after that.
04:26 Do you feel like this loss to the Kansas is something you guys are happy about?
04:29 A lot of work is still in front of us. I've always said that. We've got to take a practice at a time, a game at a time and build.
04:40 This won't set us back. We'll rebound from it and keep marching along.
04:47 Last question Seth. You mentioned the full court pressure that you faced.
04:50 Obviously having X would have helped you with that a little bit.
04:53 That's kind of how Auburn started to turn the tide a little bit. What sort of issues was that causing for you guys?
05:00 Again, they didn't do anything differently than we thought they would do.
05:05 They pressed us right from the start and we were able to get the ball in and make plays.
05:13 I don't know if fatigue set in. Malik threw a couple of them away as the guy that was taking the ball out of bounds.
05:22 We just didn't execute in certain situations. Once we got the ball in, the pressure was relieved and we just get the ball up.
05:32 We didn't execute in the half court set.
05:36 Thanks Coach.
