00:00 "I don't know, what would I tell that younger Adam? He was fine. He handled himself well enough.
00:05 I'm here now."
00:06 Adam Brody reflects on his Seth Cohen days on The O.C., following the hit series' 20th
00:13 anniversary.
00:14 "We have a perfect alibi as I go to this comic book convention every year. And we also have
00:18 my entire life of never doing anything wrong, which completely lulls my parents into a false
00:22 sense of trust."
00:23 The teen romance made headlines last week after "Welcome to the O.C." the oral history dropped.
00:30 A new book where the cast and crew go down memory lane,
00:33 remembering the good and the challenging.
00:36 Adam says he was polite to everyone on set, but admits he let his disinterest show when
00:58 he was unhappy with the direction of the series.
01:01 "I don't know what to say, except that you totally had my back out there."
01:09 Now, Adam tells E.T. everything worked out just fine.
01:14 "I don't know, what would I tell that younger Adam? He was fine. He handled himself well enough."
01:20 "I kissed you."
01:20 "I always knew you were a late bloomer, sweetie."
01:25 And speaking of major milestones, Adam and his wife,
01:28 Leighton Meester, are celebrating their 10th anniversary in February.
01:33 E.T. caught up with the actor at the premiere of his latest film,
01:36 American Fiction, where he gushed over what makes Leighton his person.
01:41 "She's my hero. She's just, uh, she's incredibly,
01:44 she's very brave, she's very strong, she's very self-determined."
01:47 A happy marriage and a thriving career.
01:51 In the dramedy, Adam plays Wiley.
01:54 "Can I ask what you were in for? Was it murder?"
01:57 "You said that, not me."
01:59 American Fiction tells the story of a frustrated novelist who writes an outlandish book out of
02:05 spite, which, ironically, winds up receiving massive acclaim.
02:10 "It's a very, very funny, very clever script with a lot of surprising
02:14 heart and, and, um, pathos and sadness."
02:18 "Your books change people's lives."
02:20 "They're offering four million dollars for movie rights."
02:23 "Yes!"
02:23 "The dumber I behave, the richer I get."
02:25 "I just really went for it and then I've been, uh, as long as I've been acting,
02:32 I've been a huge Jeffrey Wright fan. Well, really Broken Flowers, which was about,
02:36 around when I started, this is when I really first noticed him. And, um,
02:40 so an opportunity to work with him was, was very exciting.
02:43 I have a very small, but may I say impactful part."
