00:00 Samuel Haskell Jr., the son of former Hollywood agent Samuel Haskell Sr., made a bizarre appearance
00:05 in court this morning.
00:06 He's being charged with three counts of murder after being accused of killing his wife and
00:11 her parents.
00:12 The court will grant the request for continuance to January 12, 2024.
00:18 Mr. Haskell, you are ordered to appear, sir.
00:22 Accused triple murderer Sam Haskell Jr. shockingly appeared shirtless in front of the judge and,
00:27 while handcuffed, he held onto a plastic bag containing milk and what looks like food.
00:32 Trial attorney Misty Maris, who does not represent Haskell, tells Access the bizarre appearance
00:37 is incredibly unusual and goes against all courtroom decorum.
00:40 A look at his attire showed that he was wearing what would be protective prison gear, but
00:46 it was pulled down to expose his entire chest.
00:49 This is not the way courtrooms usually function.
00:52 All I can think of is that perhaps he was uncooperative behind the scenes and refused
00:56 to wear it.
00:57 Haskell is now expected to enter a plea in January after the judge granted a continuance
01:02 until then.
01:03 This was because Haskell advised the court that he retained legal counsel only two days
01:09 before.
01:11 The LAPD arrested Haskell after a headless female torso was found in a dumpster near
01:16 his home in the Los Angeles suburb of Tarzana.
01:18 Fox News Digital obtained this video showing a man dropping a large object in a dumpster
01:23 where the remains were found.
01:25 These gleaned clues led them to Haskell's home where he lived with his wife, May, their
01:30 three children and May's parents.
01:32 Prosecutors claimed that the following day after the murders, Haskell hired four day
01:36 laborers to haul away trash bags from his home.
01:38 And according to reports, Haskell claimed they were filled with rocks, but the workers
01:43 claimed they made a grisly discovery inside the bags.
01:45 KNBC tracked down the workers who didn't want to be identified on camera.
01:52 They say they saw human body parts inside one bag.
01:56 Right now Haskell has been tight lipped, but as far as what's out there, law enforcement
02:00 has reported that Haskell said that he was out of the house with his children before
02:05 these body parts were found.
02:07 It's likely that the defense will take that path and say that he wasn't there.
