00:00 Let's talk about the unresolved issue of the Pistons on the upcoming Thursday and Friday.
00:05 We have on the news this afternoon the President of the Pistons Transport Group, Modi Floranda.
00:13 Good morning and welcome to the news this afternoon.
00:16 Good morning to you and to our viewers. Good morning to all of you.
00:23 Is it possible to stop the new transport strike especially since it's Christmas rush?
00:28 The only way to stop this strike is to issue an executive order,
00:34 our President, the DOPR, to suspend the deadline of December 31, 2023,
00:40 where this is one of the problems that our drivers and operators are facing.
00:46 And of course, until the government studies the agreement of 2017-11,
00:52 they should suspend the implementation of the modernization program.
00:58 How can the DOTR be convinced that until December 31,
01:02 the PUVs that don't have a cooperative can travel?
01:05 And 70 percent of them have a cooperative.
01:09 So you're just a minority. What can you say about this?
01:12 According to some of our data, the majority are the traditional GPVs
01:19 that run through the National Capital Region in almost 261 routes according to the LTPRB data.
01:26 There are still 35,000 traditional GPVs that did not enter the consolidations here in the NCR
01:32 and in other regions.
01:34 Almost 40,000 UVE Express that did not enter the consolidation.
01:40 So if we look at it, a larger percentage of the routes run through the traditional GPVs.
01:47 So this is our call to the government, not just to DOT and PBM,
01:54 that our president should face the current situation of the public transport sector.
02:02 Because this will lead to a transport crisis in a time when we are not allowed to provide services to our citizens.
02:11 Kamaudy, the other groups that are in favor of modernization are unfair to them because they complied.
02:20 What can you say about that?
02:22 We respect the views of other groups and other drivers and operators.
02:30 Of course, we respect that and we hope that our fellow citizens will also respect that.
02:37 We are not the ones who will fight on the road, we are not the ones who will fight,
02:42 but we are both victims of this program of our government.
02:46 Our position is clear that we have no problem with modernization if this is in violation of the rehabilitation of our public transportation.
02:55 The consortium should not monopolize the services of our citizens.
03:00 Why is that? They are saying that on their part, they complied and now their group is making a profit from this new system.
03:12 What can you say about that?
03:14 Some of us are also facing those who are not making a profit since they joined modernization.
03:21 Yesterday, the Tagigano where this was a victim since 2019,
03:28 when they joined modernization, their franchise and unit were gone and their livelihood was also gone.
03:35 Some victims of the Antipulo group are also approaching us.
03:41 This is the Antipulo Biahing Mega Mall and our operators in Pasig Tagig.
03:48 Many are approaching us since they joined and their livelihood was gone.
03:57 Thank you very much, Mr. President Kamodi Floranda.
