00:00 scooters are not legal on Kent roads and pavements please do not waste your money
00:04 buying anybody an e-scooter because they can't use it on public land and there
00:10 are also concerns around some of the devices that you can buy online the
00:14 safety of the chargers and also the batteries which we know to cause fires
00:18 so I would say to anyone please do not buy an e-scooter you are wasting your
00:22 money. As much as children might want one of these devices I'm sorry but I'm gonna
00:28 have to be the Grinch at Christmas and say no. In the context of road safety I
00:32 absolutely would agree with that statement it is one of the most
00:35 dangerous things that are available out there because of the safety standards
00:39 there there are very few safety standards around the manufacture of
00:41 e-scooters and also you've got the massive risk around potential fire
00:45 particularly if you're buying them online and know nothing about the
00:47 sources the the power issues and the charging of them so they are very they
00:53 can potentially be very very dangerous items particularly if they're being used
00:58 on public roads and and so you know everything can be dangerous in a certain
01:02 context but in the context of road safety I think it's safest for everybody that
01:06 people don't buy e-scooters.
