The online hook-up and dating site Tinder and ACT Policing are cooperating so that adverts will tell users that consent to sex must be on-going and clear. Just going on the app does not amount to consent to sex.

00:00 There is no doubt that dating applications such as Tinder is where people are meeting their future sexual partners.
00:04 That's why we are pleased that Tinder was happy to partner with us and the Canberra Rape Crisis Centre to remind Canberrans who use the platform
00:13 about our affirmative consent rules in the ACT.
00:16 Specifically the Crimes
00:18 Consent Amendment Act
00:21 2022.
00:22 We also hope that these ads and continuing conversations about consent will see people's attitudes change.
00:28 We want to see a safe and a respectful community
00:31 where giving and receiving consent during sex and sexual acts becomes a normal part of everybody's relationship.
00:36 Consent can be given and withdrawn at any point during any encounter and I think that's something that often people aren't as aware of.
00:44 So it is a really important aspect if you begin to engage
00:49 sexually with someone and you don't feel comfortable at any point or there's something occurring that you don't like or
00:56 feel like is the right thing for you. It's okay to withdraw consent at that point.
01:00 Thank you.
