00:00 The best part about me fighting Canelo
00:03 is gonna be when I pull off one of the greatest upsets
00:07 in the sport of boxing
00:08 and leave people with their jaws on the floor.
00:11 - On Friday night, Jake Paul is back
00:14 looking for his eighth professional win
00:16 when he takes on veteran Andre August.
00:18 That's a fight you can watch live on DAZN.
00:20 The co-main event is actually a terrific
00:23 women's world title fight between former
00:25 undisputed champion Franchon Cruz-Dazurn.
00:27 So let's talk about you.
00:28 Last summer, you beat Nate Diaz
00:31 in kind of a grudged match.
00:32 What was your thinking after that fight
00:35 and how did we get to Andre August?
00:37 - Yeah, my thinking has been stay active.
00:41 You know, my goal, I wrote it down
00:42 at the beginning of the year, is fight three times.
00:45 So I had Tommy, Nate, and it was like,
00:46 let's finish off the goals for this year
00:49 and get another one in, staying active.
00:52 I'm the path to world champion
00:54 and that's what my coaches are really pushing on me.
00:57 It's like, oh, you want this Jake?
00:59 All right, you have to fight and stay active
01:02 and stay in camp and taking their advice
01:05 and their leadership as well
01:07 because they've been in the game for so long
01:09 and know how to get there, right?
01:10 Jay Leon, a world champion.
01:12 Third, as a coach, has tons of world champions
01:17 and experience there.
01:18 Same with Larry Wade.
01:20 So we all have the same mindset
01:23 and it's about putting it into action
01:26 and bettering myself.
01:28 - You know, Canelo Alvarez,
01:30 who is the undisputed champion at 168,
01:32 for a lot of years, he would often say,
01:35 "Nah, I'm not gonna fight Jake Paul,"
01:36 whenever it was brought up.
01:37 He's kind of opened that door a little bit
01:40 in recent interviews about the possibility of fighting you.
01:43 Do you think that is becoming more and more realistic,
01:47 whether it is next year, the year after?
01:49 Do you see that window opening up to an extent?
01:52 - For sure.
01:53 I still fully believe that it will happen
01:56 and I've believed it since the first day I said it.
01:59 It just makes sense all the way around the board.
02:02 And as I grow in my experience
02:05 and as he comes to the end of his career
02:10 in terms of fighting the number one people in the world,
02:13 he's gonna want to go out of the sport
02:17 with hundreds of millions of dollars
02:19 and what better way than to fight me?
02:22 So I think it's very interesting
02:25 and I think because of my weight,
02:30 because of my height,
02:32 and me gaining more experience in the next 24 months,
02:37 it actually becomes a really interesting matchup.
02:41 I know what I'm capable of.
02:44 I know that I can rise to occasions.
02:49 And a lot of times, you know,
02:52 these fighters are filled with fear
02:54 and think that they can't do something.
02:56 And if that's the case, then they're right.
02:59 I'm getting better on a day-to-day basis in this sport.
03:03 And the best part about me fighting Canelo
03:07 is gonna be when I pull off one of the greatest upsets
03:12 in the sport of boxing
03:14 and leave people with their jaws on the floor.
03:17 So, you know, it's all fun and games.
03:19 People can laugh at it, can doubt me,
03:22 all of these things.
03:24 It's nothing new.
03:25 Since I was a kid, that's been the case.
03:27 Me saying I'm gonna do something,
03:29 everybody in the world, besides maybe my brother,
03:32 my mom, and my dad, thinking it's a joke,
03:35 and then me accomplishing it, times f***ing 10.
03:39 So f***ing can be sweet.
03:41 We can sit here, but I believe it's gonna happen
03:44 and I believe I'll win.
03:46 We know you're ready to go.
03:48 Friday night, Andre.
