00:08 Meghan Markle and Princess Kate have had their fair share of difficulties in their relationship,
00:13 and there have been some clear signs that these two women just can't get along at all.
00:22 Author Omid Scobie pointed fingers at Kate Middleton, accusing her of not building a
00:27 meaningful friendship with Meghan in his book Finding Freedom, written with the collaboration
00:33 of the Sussexes.
00:36 The Duchess, Meghan, never progressed beyond a courteous relationship with Kate, and it
00:42 seems like Kate didn't go out of her way to make Meghan feel included.
00:52 The Sussexes reportedly believed Kate didn't play a role in bridging the divide between
00:59 the brothers, Harry and William, as she remained fiercely loyal to her husband and the royal
01:04 family.
01:05 Outside of that, though, Meghan is said to have felt that she had a greater right to
01:11 speak compared to her sister-in-law, Kate.
01:19 According to a source from the Telegraph, the Duchess of Sussex saw herself as a self-made
01:24 woman with more life experience than Kate, who has, per Meghan's perspective, hadn't
01:29 really built her own career.
01:39 And here's what the source also added.
01:41 She seemed to feel like she had more of a right to speak than her sister-in-law, who
01:46 had married into the family as an unknown, whereas Meghan regarded herself as a philanthropist
01:53 who could teach the royals a thing or two about charity.
01:56 I think she found it difficult that the royal foundation was already a well-oiled machine
02:02 by the time she got there.
02:09 Another sign is that in Prince Harry's book Spare, Prince Harry shares an instance where
02:14 his wife and his sister-in-law, Kate, didn't quite see eye to eye during the early days
02:20 of their relationship.
02:21 There was a disagreement about bridesmaid dresses before their wedding that left Meghan
02:27 in tears, and Kate apparently made a face when Meghan borrowed her lip gloss.
02:33 Also according to Omid Scobie's new book, Endgame, Kate Middleton also reacts with a
02:40 combination of shuddering as well as giggling every time she hears Meghan Markle's name
02:45 mentioned.
02:46 Meghan Markle has also criticized Kate herself in her and Harry's docuseries on Netflix,
02:52 and reflecting on their initial meeting, Meghan expressed her surprise at the formalities
02:57 behind the scene among members of the royal family.
03:00 And she talked about the perceived lack of warmth from Kate, mentioning no-hugging policy
03:06 that seemed to characterize their interactions.
03:10 And speaking about this whole thing in an episode of the docuseries, here's what Meghan
03:15 had to say in her own words.
03:17 When Will and Kate came over and I met her for the first time, they came over for dinner,
03:22 I remember I was in ripped jeans and I was barefoot.
03:26 I was a hugger.
03:27 I've always been a hugger.
03:28 I didn't realize that that is really jarring for a lot of Brits.
03:33 I guess I started to understand very quickly that the formality on the outside carried
03:38 through on the inside.
03:40 There is a forward-facing way of being, and then you close the door and go, "Oh, you
03:46 can relax now."
03:47 But the formality carries over on both sides, and that was surprising to me.
03:52 And also, another sign was that before the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's royal wedding
03:57 in May of 2018, Harry claims that Meghan Markle made a bold remark about Kate, suggesting
04:03 that she must have baby brain due to her hormones.
04:08 The comment didn't sit well at all with Kate, as you can imagine, and according to
04:11 the book, Harry claims that she was very upset and Meghan apologized, explaining it was just
04:19 how she talks to her friends.
04:21 However, William stepped in and reportedly pointed a finger at Meghan, and he said, "Well,
04:28 it's rude, Meghan.
04:29 These things are not done here."
04:31 And that's when Meghan responded by saying, "If you don't mind, keep your finger out
04:36 of my face."
04:37 This remark reportedly left Meghan very upset, especially as she was reportedly warned that
04:43 she wasn't close enough to Kate to make remarks about her hormones or just say things
04:49 like that at all to Kate.
04:51 There just weren't there yet on that level.
04:53 So these are just some of the signs.
04:55 From both's perspective, Harry Meghan, Kate William, from their perspectives of why these
05:02 two women never get along, or it doesn't seem like they fostered a real, genuine friendship
05:08 or relationship in the first place.
05:11 After all, they are sister-in-laws, and you would hope that they could get along more.
05:15 But hey, it is what it is at this point, I guess.
