00:00 The Connected Women Program is a Red Cross initiative bringing together women from all
00:07 nationalities, including refugees and asylum seekers.
00:10 It aims to strengthen the mental health and wellbeing of women in their communities.
00:22 Connected Women brought together nearly 100 women over the last year in Launceston and
00:28 Hobart to connect, build friendships and to undertake activities such as sharing recipes
00:36 and culture.
00:38 Through this experience the cookbook was created.
00:41 I'm honoured to be working alongside these women in our community who are facing a range
00:50 of challenges navigating complex systems in Australia and I'm one of that women.
00:57 The Connected Women Project provides safe space for women to connect with each other,
01:04 socialise, participate, integrate and thrive in their new home, Tasmania.
01:10 There's over 100 women in the Connected Women Project.
01:14 We are about 33 different countries and 28 different languages.
01:20 And with that I would say diversity is our strength and how we come together in a respectful
01:26 manner, how we connect with each other in a safe space, how we support each other, how
01:32 we get along with each other.
01:34 For me it has been a journey of learning and I'm changed by the experience of working alongside
01:43 these women.
