00:17 After almost four years of working in the media industry, Dom decided to move to a different company.
00:25 She said she experienced too much stress and hardships before so she's very happy to have a work and life balance and peace of mind right now.
00:34 For me, work-life balance is very important because I came from a work that is very high stress.
00:40 Every step of the way, you have to be there.
00:43 So now, I'm experiencing work-life balance because I just transferred my job.
00:48 And one of the things I looked at when I was looking for a job is if I will have any time here because I didn't experience it in my last work.
00:58 At the House of Representatives, a new proposal has been filed which aims to further improve the welfare of workers by allowing them to have their own time and totally take a rest after work.
01:09 This is the House Bill No. 9735 of Cagayan de Oro City Representative Rufus Rodriguez.
01:15 Under the proposal, Rodriguez seeks to amend the labor code to grant employees the right to disconnect from work-related electronic communications after work hours, which means they can disregard calls or messages beyond their work hours.
01:28 On top of this, the creation of a policy on after-hours use of technology is being pushed for a better work system.
01:35 According to Congressman Rodriguez, although advances in technology have made it easier for people to work and conduct business, problems arise in such a way that employees work even beyond their normal schedule, which should be resolved.
01:48 But for our countrymen, do they agree with this or not?
01:51 It's a favor for us to take a rest, just like you, an employee. We spend time with our family and we take a rest.
02:01 It depends on the situation. If there's an emergency, you can give it.
02:07 Ask them if they're okay with it. If not, just give it.
02:12 The Congress will resume session next month and this proposal is expected to be discussed once the committee hearings resume at the lower house.
