00:11 President Bongbong Marcos has signed the P5.768 trillion General Appropriations Act or 2024 National Budget.

00:22 DBM Secretary Amen said that it is higher than 9.5% of the P5.268 trillion budget this year.

00:30 In his speech, the President of the Congress praised the rapid budget transition.

00:35 Details are battle plan in fighting poverty and combating illiteracy,

00:41 in producing food and ending hunger, in protecting our homes and securing our border,

00:47 treating the sick, keeping our people healthy, creating jobs and funding livelihoods.

00:55 In the statement of Speaker Martin Romualdez,

00:58 the 2024 budget will include P500 billion or half a trillion for the assistance of 12 million poor families.

01:07 This is the first time that the cash assistance is this big for our countrymen.

01:13 In the legacy projects of the President, P5 billion was allocated to food security for free irrigation,

01:20 rice, fertilizer and other farm inputs.

01:24 P5 billion is added to buy rice from farmers.

01:28 For the preparation of El Nino,

01:30 the National Irrigation Administration has P80 billion for the construction of more dams,

01:36 water reservoirs and solar irrigation systems.

01:40 The Congress also allocated P1.5 billion for the development and expansion of the airport in Pagasa Island

01:47 which shows the determination of the Marcos Administration to strengthen our sovereignty in the West Philippine Sea.

01:54 According to Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri,

01:56 there are almost no more confidential funds for the government's civilian agencies that are under the arms services of the country.

02:03 The security cluster has an additional P10 billion fund,

02:08 especially in protecting our territories in the West Philippine Sea.

02:12 We're buying three big ships for the Coast Guard.
