00:00 All right guys over the past few years ski resorts have absolutely exploded with new investments and this upcoming season is no
00:08 Exception across the US ski scene dozens of ski resorts are in for major upgrades
00:14 Brad talked with travel expert Janine
00:16 Tornateur about where to go and the new experiences in store at some of the top winter destinations in the country. Check it out
00:26 Good morning, Janine. How are you a good morning? I'm doing great great to be here
00:31 All right, this is perfect because you know winter time is a great time to get away
00:34 You know some of the great deals some places ago. So let's start where you're at right now, Aspen, Colorado
00:41 Absolutely, look this is the year to come to Aspen there are so many new things happening here
00:47 Let's start with what's happening on the mountain a new high-speed lift and major train expansion on Aspen Mountain
00:54 In fact, it's the most significant addition of terrain here since
00:57 1985 they're adding a hundred and fifty acres
01:00 Increasing the skiable terrain by 20% This new lift is called heroes
01:05 They named it after all the people that really helped make this massive project possible
01:09 So that's a really big one for folks who like to get up on the mountain and ski
01:12 There's also a ton of new things happening right in town. Let's start with at some of these hotels
01:18 I'm actually coming to from the balcony of the little Nell which is a luxury hotel right here on Mountain
01:23 They just launched their brand new spa. I got to tell you I toured the treatment rooms yesterday
01:29 The each treatment room has its own fireplace. It has its own sauna
01:33 So it's that really personalized luxury experience their treatments are really cool. They're all about recovery and restoration
01:39 There's also a brand new boutique hotel in here in town
01:43 68 rooms it's called Molly Aspen. It's got a great rooftop pool and terrace
01:49 Really cozy lounge space great restaurant and bar. So that's a really fun one to check out if you're looking to book here
01:55 And then I should also mention that the Michelin guide to Colorado if you're foodie that launched in September
02:01 So there's some really great restaurants here in Aspen
02:04 There is Michelin rated Bosque Aspen on that list and some great Michelin recommended hotels on that list as well
02:10 Yeah, you know when you talk about the new boutique hotel
02:13 I was reading about that and they're very excited about it supposed to be really cool
02:16 Like that's the hot spot for all the celebs and everybody to be around when they're in Aspen
02:20 So I might go check that out
02:22 Another place I think the families can check out and you're saying King's
02:28 Kingstone tell me about yes, cuz that's interesting
02:31 Yep, Keystone is always top of my list for families and for value
02:36 I love it for families because they have their kids ski free program
02:39 So if your family and you book two or more nights at through their resort your kids 12 and under will ski for free throughout
02:45 Your entire stay so fantastic value
02:48 They also do a lot of things to accommodate families as well like special family parking and things like that
02:53 They have a big new announcement this year too, which is a major terrain expansion as well
02:57 They have their new Bergman Express lift, which takes you to
03:00 550 acres of new high alpine terrain that previously you could only get to if you hiked or you took a snowcat
03:07 You know, I always think of that terrain as being super expert terrain
03:10 But what's cool about this terrain is there a ton of mellow welcoming runs?
03:13 So great for intermediates and advanced skiers as well
03:16 And then you know Keystone's great because there's so many things to do that don't involve strapping on skis or a snowboard
03:22 There's snow tubing. There's ice skating. They have the world's largest mountain top snow fort
03:27 Sleigh-rides you name it. There's so many cool experiences there. I like that. That's so cool
03:32 We're going to those ice villages up there, which is really neat. Okay
03:35 This is very important people. Listen carefully. You might not ski like an Olympian, but you can go and
03:43 Ski with Olympian ski and that's at Copper Mountain. What about this place? I'm hearing about
03:48 Yeah, Copper Mountains known as the athletes mountain. They are the official
03:53 Training mountain for the US ski and snowboard athletes
03:57 So you might be coming down the slopes and have some Olympic hopefuls right alongside you
04:00 They're really all about helping people progress and really kind of elevate their game here on the mountain here
04:08 One of the ways they do that is through this really cool off mountain facility called Woodward Barn
04:12 It's over
04:14 19,000 square feet. It's this huge indoor playground. They have skate scooter BMX zones
04:21 They have Olympic grade trampolines if you have teens or tweens, this is the place to take them off mountain. It's super fun
04:27 Their big news on mountain this year is actually their new mid mountain lodge called airy
04:32 This you know, you're skiing down the mountain. You want to stop for lunch. You want to stop for some cocktails
04:37 This is kind of one that's gonna offer an elevated dining experience
04:41 They have a new signature restaurant here called Forge and Feast
04:43 270 degree views of the mountain two bars there
04:47 So definitely if you're heading to copper make sure that your stop at airy when you're skiing down the mountain
04:52 I like that
04:53 see, I'm not as I'm not a skier but I do like to go at the lodges and just sit around and drink Bailey's and
04:59 Hot cocoa and pretend like I skied right? That's what you take you take the lift up
05:03 You hop over and you can sit there and watch everyone come down and enjoy the day. I like it
05:08 I do think this is so awesome. Okay, where can we find more information?
05:10 Yeah, well definitely all these resorts are in Colorado
05:14 So colorado.com is really the place to go to find more information about all of these and whatever winter adventures you're looking for
05:21 I like it. Jenny. Thanks for joining us this morning. Stay warm
05:24 Thanks so much. My pleasure
