00:00 Well, with winter's chill here, mice and rats will begin looking for a warm place to stay,
00:05 and they'd like to spend some time with you. So according to a study released by the National
00:09 Pest Management Association, over one out of every four Americans has found a rodent inside their
00:14 home this past year. To prevent mice or rat problems, seal any holes or gaps you see inside
00:20 and outside of your home, even if you may think that those little gaps or holes are too small for
00:24 rodents to crawl through. It's not just windows and doors. What is the space around the utility
00:32 penetration points where the water lines come in or electrical lines come in? If they're bigger
00:37 than a dime, a mouse can get in. If they're bigger than a quarter, a rat can get in. And there are
00:45 several other ways you can prevent mice and rat infestations. Make sure to transfer as much food
00:50 as you can into airtight containers or glass jars. That's going to prevent rodents from chewing
00:55 through plastic or cardboard packaging. And pet food should also be stored properly and put away
01:00 overnight.
