Nasa 200 benepisyaryo sa Maynila, nakatanggap ng food voucher sa ilalim ng ng food stamp program ng DSWD
Transcript
00:00 The government is continuously working to address the hunger in the country.
00:04 And now, 200 businessmen in Manila were given food vouchers under the food stamp program of DSWD.
00:13 Kenneth Paciente is in the center of the news.
00:16 When Rosalina sells the rice bags, she earns 200 pesos a day.
00:23 She admitted that it is not enough for their daily needs, especially her four children.
00:30 I save money for electricity and water.
00:34 Sometimes, we just have cash.
00:38 She is very happy because she is one of the recipients of food vouchers in Manila
00:43 under the food stamp program of the Department of Social Welfare.
00:47 This is my first time. I don't know how to do this.
00:50 According to DSWD, 200 individuals were given electronic benefit transfer cards
00:56 that contain 3,000 food credit that beneficiaries can use to buy their food within a month.
01:04 They are included in the 3,000 beneficiaries for the pilot implementation of the program in different parts of the country.
01:11 It's a gradual scale-up.
01:12 We will finish the pilot of 3,000 and then hopefully by next summer, 300,000.
01:17 One year later, another 300,000 until another 300,000, 400,000 until we complete 1 million.
01:24 The food stamp is a big help.
01:26 If I buy food, I can save it for the next day and for the children to eat.
01:36 The amount of funds allocated for the program is estimated at 2 billion pesos.
01:40 President Marcos Jr. assured that the program will continue to be funded
01:44 and that it will be effective after six months of the pilot implementation.
01:49 DSWD clarified that even though food vouchers are given to beneficiaries for a month,
01:54 they should also do their part to improve their livelihood through work.
02:01 If they say they don't have a job, we will find them a job.
02:04 Our partner agency is DOLE.
02:06 If they don't have enough skills or ability, they will be tested through training.
02:11 So while we give them a flight, they should work.
02:16 We should give them a three-year exit.
02:20 By that time, they should have stabilized.
02:22 They should have a job and earn money.
02:24 The food stamp program is currently being supported by the administration
02:28 to end hunger in the country before President Marcos Jr. finishes his term.
02:33 Kenneth Paciente, for the people.
