00:05 following its suspension of Sunshine Media Network International or SMNI.

00:10 Ian Cruz pointed that out.

00:12 Senator Robin Padilla rejected the National Telecommunications Commission

00:19 because of the lack of due process in its establishment

00:23 of a month suspension of Sunshine Media Network International or SMNI.

00:28 In an interview, Padilla said that he will issue a resolution supporting SMNI

00:33 and condemning the NTC.

00:36 Padilla is the chairman of the Senate Committee on Public Information and Mass Media.

00:41 However, the NTC did not say in the suspension order

00:44 why the operation of SMNI should be suspended.

00:48 It also did not mention why it should be suspended

00:52 to avoid serious harm to the public or private interests.

00:57 Instead, Padilla said,

00:59 the suspension has no basis and it violates the right of SMNI

01:04 to a due process that will result in serious harm to SMNI and its employees.

01:11 Senator Aimee Marcos said,

01:13 "The right to due process and freedom of expression are the foundations of our system of government."

01:19 But it did not follow the decision of the NTC.

01:23 The NTC should follow the decision because these actions have a chilling effect on freedom of expression.

01:38 the NTC said that it is justifying the declaration of the camera

01:43 that the network violated the three provisions of its franchise.
