00:00 >> Referee Jack Reese getting this assignment.
00:02 We are scheduled eight rounds as we see Arnold Alejandro
00:08 take on Adon Ochoa.
00:11 Some changes for Ochoa since last time we saw him in that
00:16 main event spotlight against Omar Trinidad.
00:18 He is moved camps now training at the wild card and there's
00:22 that old saying in combat sports you either win or you
00:26 learn and for Adon Ochoa, he's hoping to spin that lost
00:29 forward into the next evolution in his pro boxing career and
00:34 it for sure was the next evolution in his boxing career
00:37 as far as training.
00:38 He decided he saw something he needed to change and change it up.
00:41 >> Yes, very, very good matchup on paper.
00:47 It speaks to the confidence that Ochoa has that coming off
00:52 a loss he's willing to face a fighter with a winning record
00:56 and a fighter with a high knockout ratio.
00:59 >> When I talk about the decision to move camps Abel,
01:03 obviously you're a coach.
01:05 The mindset of an athlete is something that is very important
01:09 for a trainer to understand and I think that we're going to
01:13 see a different fighter and see what that corner pulls out
01:16 of Adon Ochoa.
01:16 >> You're going to see a different fighter because it's a
01:20 mindset, a mindset in the gym.
01:22 And I don't think he's going to get some great work at the wild card.
01:25 Marvin is a very good coach.
01:27 He's got some very good fighters and Adon will win for him.
01:30 I'm not saying that the coach that he had before is a bad coach.
01:38 >> Right.
01:39 >> Just sometimes a change of address makes a difference.
01:41 You see that in a lot of sports.
01:43 >> Oof.
01:47 Ochoa might have got stunned a little bit.
01:49 He's the aggressor.
01:50 He's marching forward.
01:52 He's working the body of Alejandro, but Alejandro is man in some ways.
01:58 Hard right hooks and straight leaps.
02:01 Alejandro is the southpaw.
02:04 >> Left hand finds a hold for Alejandro.
02:06 Now Ochoa trying to come back with some volume.
02:08 >> This fight is a little heavier weight for Ochoa.
02:13 I hope this is a 100 pounder.
02:14 >> He's coming up from 126 pounds to 130 pounds.
02:18 >> It was interesting to see that too because I thought he was
02:21 actually a little bit outsized from Omar Trinidad, but Trinidad's
02:24 a different fighter altogether.
02:26 >> He's a featherweight who looks like a lightweight when he
02:28 kicks the ground.
02:29 >> Counter strikes here from Alejandro finding a home.
02:33 >> This is going to be a tough round to score.
02:37 Because with Ochoa you have the busier fighter.
02:41 He's throwing more punches and landing more punches, but
02:44 Alejandro is landing clean, harder shots.
02:47 >> Yeah, the punches from Alejandro are definitely getting a bigger reaction as well.
02:53 >> And you know, this was a fight that I sort of expected from
02:57 both of these guys because the intensity at weigh-ins yesterday
03:00 was on display in the stare down.
03:02 There was a lot of control by both of these guys because they
03:04 were in each other's face with not a lot of people around them
03:06 to separate them if something broke out.
03:08 >> I'm glad they saved it for the ring.
03:11 >> Yeah, I think Mike Styles stepped in in between them and
03:13 separated them.
03:14 >> That's a good guy to break up a fight.
03:16 >> I'm terrified of Mike.
03:17 >> So am I.
03:18 >> He's a good man.
03:20 He's a very gentle man.
03:22 >> Final 10 seconds here in this opening round.
03:25 >> What a fun fight through the first 3 minutes.
03:33 >> You know, Alejandro throws a very sneaky little loop backhand.
03:40 His left hand loops a little bit and is landing, catching.
03:44 When he throws it straight, he gets blocked a little bit.
03:47 When he loops a little bit, and that's the punch that's going to
03:50 be, I think, effective against Otro.
03:52 He's got his right hand a little bit down below his knee.
03:55 >> I knew Alejandro had the heavier hands, but he seems a
03:59 little bit quicker, or at least quicker on the trigger.
04:02 I didn't expect that.
04:05 Really good round.
04:07 Really close and competitive round.
04:09 I just shaded it for Arnold Alejandro.
04:13 Those punches, that right hook right there, because when he
04:17 would land, he was snapping the head back of Otro.
04:20 >> Yeah, we're seeing Alejandro scoring from a distance with one-twos.
04:31 >> Here we go, round 2 underway.
04:34 TJ DeSantis, Abel Sanchez, Doug Fisher.
04:36 Appreciate you joining us.
04:38 We are live inside Commerce Casino here in Commerce, California.
04:41 The site of Hollywood's Fight Night.
04:43 Again, appreciate you joining us live on UFC Fight Nights.
04:46 [crowd noise]
04:48 >> It seems clear that Otro is definitely making a concentrated
05:02 effort to attack the body whenever he can.
05:05 I have to imagine that the goal is to take the wind out of
05:10 Alejandro's sails.
05:11 Take away some of that power, take away his legs, and just
05:15 weaken him.
05:16 >> Big left hand by Alejandro.
05:23 >> Alejandro's having trouble with that southpaw stance.
05:27 I'm sorry, Ochoa is having trouble with the southpaw stance.
05:32 Alejandro's doing just fine boxing out of the southpaw stance.
05:36 Because he's found a home for that straight left.
05:38 Ochoa again showing reliable whiskers.
05:45 Definitely not something you want to lean on, but good to have
05:48 in your back pocket when you need it.
05:50 Crowd coming alive here inside Commerce Casino for their charge
05:58 at Donna Ochoa.
06:00 Just past the halfway point of round number two.
06:08 [crowd noise]
06:10 >> Left hand again.
06:28 Trying to come forward with volume.
06:35 I think we need an Abel Sanchez cam just to follow the body language.
06:39 What do you see, Abel?
06:40 >> I see Alejandro setting up a left hand.
06:43 That's it that I'm talking about.
06:45 He hasn't thrown-- when he throws it, he lands it, and he lands it clean.
06:49 They seem to do more damage than the punches that Adonis throws.
06:54 >> That's what I'm saying.
06:56 >> Yeah.
06:57 >> That's why I gave the first round to Alejandro.
07:04 But Ochoa is in there getting work done.
07:06 >> What you mentioned, I think he's a little confused with that southpaw stance.
07:12 He's having a hard time figuring it out.
07:14 >> Definitely having difficulty defending against the straight left.
07:18 >> About ten seconds of flurry of action here in the second round.
07:25 Ochoa ate a pretty hard shot there.
07:30 And still gained two rounds in the books.
07:34 We got a fight on our hands, guys.
07:37 >> It could become a shootout.
07:40 It could turn into a battle of attrition.
07:42 >> Whatever it's going to be, I'm here for it.
07:46 >> Came to the Commerce Casino and a fight broke out.
07:49 >> Imagine that.
07:50 And I have to imagine Ochoa is hoping that this body attack
07:55 is going to eventually take the wind out of Alejandro's sails.
07:59 So far, it's not.
08:00 >> I mean-- >> Go ahead.
08:02 >> But while he's trying to go to the body, he's getting countered on top
08:05 because the quicker hands are on Alejandro's side.
08:07 >> Yes. I was just going to ask you that, Abel.
08:09 I mean, obviously, it's good to go after the body,
08:12 especially early in a fight.
08:13 But at what point do you abandon it if you don't think it's going to pay dividends?
08:17 >> Well, you don't abandon it.
08:18 Now, instead of trying to hit the particular body shot,
08:21 now you're hitting him on the arms to try to slow his arms down,
08:24 to try to freeze his arms.
08:25 Then we start going to the body later on.
08:27 But you can't just be reaching with a faster body like that.
08:30 >> Round 3 underway.
08:33 Donna Choa in the purple with gold.
08:37 >> You mentioned that Figueroa looking so much bigger than Ochoa.
08:47 Ochoa looks so much bigger than Alejandro in this fight.
08:50 >> Yeah, but Alejandro has a good teacher.
08:54 He's in his corner with Danny Garcia.
08:58 He actually-- Alejandro sometimes looks like he's open for punches,
09:03 but he blocks very well on the inside.
09:06 You get a great view of some of these exchanges
09:09 as the fighters let their hands go in the neutral corner.
09:13 But it seems to me that Alejandro's getting the better of these exchanges
09:17 because he can block, counter, he's quicker on the trigger.
09:21 He's not as easy to hit as he appears.
09:24 >> You talk about a good teacher in the corner,
09:27 you see the different kind of styles.
09:29 You see Alejandro sitting on his back foot.
09:31 You see Ochoa sitting-- there's so many ways of teaching,
09:34 there's so many different approaches, so many philosophies.
09:37 For Alejandro, him sitting on his back foot,
09:40 it just seems to work for him.
09:43 >> It's working for him against the Danny Choa.
09:46 I watched some of the other fighters
09:49 and I watched some of Alejandro's fights on YouTube
09:53 and he was more of a straightforward,
09:56 stock-forward fighter behind the jab,
09:59 and he wasn't as effective.
10:01 In fact, he actually ran into boxing like that,
10:05 so I think sort of boxing off the back foot
10:09 and counter-punching, I think it suits him better,
10:12 at least in this matchup.
10:15 [crowd cheering]
10:18 >> Alejandro's launching a long range left
10:29 without setting it up with the jab.
10:31 It's just a V-lift.
10:33 It's landing from the outside.
10:36 >> Nobody punch, step away from each other.
10:38 >> And he's not jabbing that much,
10:40 but he's using his hook.
10:43 [crowd shouting]
10:46 >> 45 seconds left here in round number three.
10:49 [crowd shouting]
10:51 >> Anytime when Choa lunges forward,
10:53 he doesn't have his guard up.
10:55 He doesn't have that left hand that he's naturally
10:57 getting down with the right hook.
11:00 [crowd shouting]
11:03 >> Come on.
11:05 [crowd shouting]
11:08 >> Oh, huge blow right here in the final ten seconds
11:26 of the round.
11:28 [crowd shouting]
11:31 >> And a punch in the neck.
11:32 Reese lets him fight to the bell.
11:36 Now we're three rounds in.
11:40 >> PJ, I don't envy the judges in these rounds.
11:42 They're very close rounds.
11:45 Both guys are doing great work.
11:49 It's a matter of what it is that you like to see.
11:51 >> Here's some of that work on display.
11:53 Doug, walk us through.
11:55 >> Yeah, this is Choa backing Alejandro to the ropes,
11:58 but Alejandro remains dangerous because he knows
12:01 when to let those punches go.
12:04 He didn't connect on a good left hand in that replay,
12:07 but he lands a nice right hook in this replay.
12:10 [crowd shouting]
12:13 >> Now we go inside the corner of Alejandro.
12:19 I mean, he's had some really good strikes,
12:21 really good counter shots, but has he done enough
12:24 to firmly feel confident that the judges
12:27 are siding with him thus far?
12:28 >> Not yet, not yet.
12:30 Both guys are having good rounds,
12:32 good moments in each round.
12:33 >> Right.
12:34 >> But you'll go back-- Alejandro will go back to tape
12:36 and watch his punches being cuffed a little bit.
12:38 He's gonna have to learn to turn his left hand
12:40 a little bit over.
12:41 That's why these fights are important.
12:44 I've scored all three of the first three rounds
12:48 for Alejandro, but they're very close rounds.
12:51 He's in that shot that Dan Fong Ochoa has won
12:55 one or even two of the first three
12:57 on one of the official scorecards.
13:00 And that's because he is the aggressor.
13:02 He's the one coming forward.
13:03 He's the one with the higher punch output,
13:06 and he is connected to the body.
13:08 But then when he gets caught,
13:09 sometimes he gets knocked off balance
13:11 or his head snaps back.
13:12 And those are effective blows that are being landed
13:14 by Dan Fong.
13:16 [crowd shouting]
13:20 [crowd shouting]
13:23 >> One minute down here in round number four.
13:37 [crowd shouting]
13:40 You mentioned Ochoa, definitely the aggressor.
13:47 He has backed up Alejandro several times
13:50 against Phelps and the others.
13:53 But Alejandro, really comfortable
13:57 sort of following the lead of Ochoa.
14:00 And when he responds, he responds and he wins.
14:04 >> Ochoa's having a much better run.
14:07 >> And his output has changed a bit here as well.
14:13 I think that he's more aggressive.
14:16 He's still aggressive, Abel,
14:18 but it's more quality aggression this way.
14:22 >> He's landing the shots.
14:23 Alejandro throwing punches,
14:25 but he's not landing as clean as Ochoa is.
14:28 >> Yeah, Ochoa is also moving away from Alejandro's left.
14:32 >> Already there up against the ropes.
14:36 Back at space.
14:39 There's right hand to the body.
14:45 >> I think we're seeing Alejandro
14:46 get a bit more aggressive here this round.
14:50 And that might be because we found some success here
14:52 from Ochoa in the way that he's landing the ones.
14:56 >> He seems like the first part of the fight
14:59 that he's setting back a little bit.
15:02 Not as aggressive now as he was before.
15:04 >> Yeah, I thought Alejandro wasn't doing anything
15:07 in the first minute.
15:08 He was just getting out of work.
15:12 [crowd shouting]
15:15 >> Definitely a much better round for Ochoa.
15:25 [bell dings]
15:33 >> Lansing left hand finds a home there for Alejandro
15:36 as the round expires.
15:38 We are at the halfway point.
15:41 Four down, four to go.
15:43 Looking at the corner here of Adonit Choa,
15:46 who's represented himself well in this fight.
15:48 I tend to think that the momentum is a bit on the side
15:52 of Alejandro, but Marvin Simonio now
15:54 gonna give him some instructions
15:55 as we get to the second half of this fight.
15:57 Abel, if you're in the corner of Adonit Choa,
15:59 what are you saying?
16:00 >> Well, whatever we're working on is starting to connect.
16:05 I think the last round was Ochoa's round.
16:07 >> Yes.
16:08 >> Yeah, it's a matter now of continuing what we're doing.
16:11 We need to get in a firefight.
16:12 >> Right.
16:13 >> We need to be smart.
16:14 We need to be aggressive,
16:15 but with very intelligent combinations and movement.
16:20 Moving away from, like Dougie said,
16:22 moving away from Alejandro's left hand
16:24 is very important for him.
16:26 So just continue what you're doing,
16:28 but let's add to what we're doing in the last round.
16:33 [bell dings]
16:34 >> And Doug, you said while you had scored all the rounds
16:36 for Alejandro, they were close rounds,
16:38 so with that round maybe being a bit more decisive for Ochoa,
16:41 who knows where we really are in the final scoreboard.
16:43 >> It could be tied up.
16:45 It could be two rounds apiece easily.
16:50 >> Round five underway.
16:52 We're getting to get to San Ysabel Sanchez,
16:54 Doug Fischer, in the Southern Commerce Casino tonight,
16:57 live on UFC Fight Pass for Hollywood Fight Nights.
17:02 [crowd chatter]
17:05 >> This combination there, Ochoa.
17:18 You know, Doug, we're talking about the durability of Ochoa.
17:25 We saw it on display in the Oman-Trinidad fight.
17:28 You don't want to necessarily rely on your ability
17:31 to take hard shots and have a good chin,
17:34 but I do think that we're seeing Ochoa have some confidence
17:37 after he's taken some shots and given more of his own time.
17:41 >> That was a beautiful right hand off the ropes.
17:44 And now it looks like Ochoa is beating Alejandro to the punch.
17:48 And he does have to be careful against Alejandro.
17:55 Alejandro's the kind of guy who can catch you
17:58 between your punches.
18:01 >> I can see Martin telling him at a point
18:03 where he's gonna start leaving with the wrong hands
18:05 because he seems--
18:06 every time he goes to leave right hands without a jab,
18:08 he's landing it.
18:09 Four or five shots, he's landed with the lead.
18:24 >> We talked about Ochoa moving up in this fight.
18:28 I mean, is this a weight class that you think
18:30 that he has a future in, fighting this heavy?
18:32 >> I think he should be at 126.
18:36 He's not the tallest or rangiest.
18:39 He just doesn't have a frame of a modern junior lightweight.
18:44 And he's not a puncher.
18:46 He's got decent power, but he's a guy
18:49 who's got to really get in there and work
18:53 to win rounds, let alone score knockouts.
18:58 So I think he's better suited at the smaller weight class,
19:01 featherweight.
19:03 >> Inside the final 30 seconds of this fifth round.
19:10 A flurry of action there.
19:16 >> Get on the ring, get on the ring!
19:19 >> Ochoa initiating the clinch as the bell sounds.
19:37 Five down, three to go.
19:43 >> I would think that that's another round for Ochoa.
19:45 >> Yep.
19:46 >> I've scored rounds four and five for Adon Ochoa.
19:50 >> Now inside the corner of Alejandro.
19:53 If you're trying to get through to him,
19:56 what's the message, Abel, as now it seems like
19:59 Ochoa has at least turned the momentum
20:01 of this fight a little bit.
20:02 >> I would be saying that to him, but I also would be saying
20:04 to remember where we're at.
20:06 Remember where we're at, we're in Ochoa's house,
20:09 so we're going to have to take it to him and make sure
20:11 that we're decisive in every round.
20:13 We can't allow rounds to be too close.
20:16 >> Yeah, and I think, you know,
20:21 whoever's in Alejandro's corner,
20:23 and I'm sure Danny Garcia is saying this,
20:26 you can't fall asleep in there,
20:28 'cause there's-- sometimes there's lulls
20:30 of inactivity from-- from Alejandro.
20:34 You know, he just won't punch for, like, 20, 30 seconds.
20:37 >> And Ochoa being the aggressive one,
20:38 it looks like he's the one pressing the fight.
20:40 He's the one that-- the one that works.
20:43 Seems like Ochoa's gotten a little bit better
20:57 at evading some of these shots from Alejandro.
21:01 He's starting to pick up on Alejandro's style
21:04 and his rhythm and his timing.
21:08 >> Has to be wiped the sweat off her forehead.
21:11 These guys are working hard in there.
21:13 >> It's hot under these lights.
21:17 This is some hot action.
21:18 >> Bittersweet and bloody.
21:20 >> Yes, that's true.
21:21 >> Oh, trust me, I got a dry-cleaning bill
21:24 from the last goer.
21:26 >> Nomination punches there by Ochoa.
21:34 One and a down, here at round number six.
21:37 >> I would like to see more combinations from Ochoa.
21:40 He's got nice, fast hands.
21:42 He definitely has pop at the end of his punches.
21:45 I'd love to see, you know, two and three punch combinations.
21:48 A nice two-punch.
21:50 >> We were talking earlier in the fight
21:53 about the southpaw style of Alejandro
21:55 giving Ochoa some-- some fits.
21:58 Do you like the adjustments?
21:59 Do you feel, guys, if Ochoa's handling
22:02 that southpaw style better?
22:04 >> Actually, to me, he's handling it better
22:05 'cause he's leading with the right hand.
22:06 And I think I mentioned that Zabudin must have told me
22:08 the right hand's gonna come first.
22:10 It doesn't have to be a punch
22:11 that's trying to knock anybody out,
22:12 but the lead kind of changes the perspective of the--
22:16 of the southpaw.
22:17 >> And I think Ochoa knows what to anticipate
22:20 because Alejandro's kind of throwing the same shots
22:23 over and over again.
22:24 I mean, he's sneaky with it.
22:26 And the punches are a lot to contend with
22:29 when they land,
22:30 but Ochoa's starting to anticipate them.
22:34 So he's-- he's doing a better job of evading them.
22:38 >> Good left hand by Alejandro.
22:43 High up here in the clinch.
22:45 Separation by Jack Brees.
22:48 Nice right hand for Adonichoa.
22:52 >> Hey, stop, my break, my break.
22:54 [indistinct shouting]
23:03 >> There's the lead right.
23:05 And he's throwing it like a jab, too.
23:07 He's not loading up on it.
23:08 He's just putting it out there.
23:10 >> You see how-- how the move--
23:24 you're absolutely right about this one.
23:26 He needs to be--
23:27 he needs to make some little turns.
23:29 [indistinct shouting]
23:32 [bell dings]
23:35 >> There we go, another one in the books.
23:37 Coming into that round,
23:38 we're talking about the momentum
23:39 maybe being on the side of Adonichoa.
23:42 Abel, how'd you see that round?
23:43 >> I saw that round for Ochoa again.
23:45 Again, it's the lead right hands being--
23:47 the lead right hand being used as a jab
23:48 and then a jab behind that.
23:50 And the jab is really the one
23:51 that he's trying to throw hard.
23:54 But I-- I-- as Jack mentioned,
23:56 Alejandro's taking too many--
23:58 too many rest periods in the round,
24:00 so the aggressive guy has got to take a round.
24:03 >> Yeah, it's-- I have it an even fight
24:05 on my scorecard.
24:06 Three rounds apiece.
24:07 The first three rounds for Alejandro,
24:08 the last three rounds for Ochoa.
24:11 >> It's gonna be an interesting fight
24:12 to score for the judges.
24:14 >> Yeah, and definitely I think
24:15 in these-- in round seven and eight,
24:17 conditioning is gonna play a big part.
24:20 >> Yeah, I see him getting a little winded.
24:21 I see him breathing a little hard.
24:22 >> I see what you're saying. >> Yeah.
24:24 [whistle blows]
24:26 >> You know, if the corners know
24:28 how close this fight could potentially be,
24:31 you would think that we're gonna see
24:32 Alejandro be more offensive-minded,
24:35 maybe not take those breaks of offense
24:39 because, like you said,
24:42 we have a Don Ochoa who's incredibly aggressive,
24:44 but it might be Ochoa who starts to slow
24:47 if fatigue becomes a factor.
24:50 >> Very true.
24:51 The corner has to-- the fighter has to trust
24:52 the corner and the corner--
24:54 when the fighter comes back to the corner,
24:55 you're telling me it's a 3-3 right now
24:57 where you gotta draw.
24:58 They're thinking they've won every round.
24:59 >> Right. >> So you have to be able
25:00 to convince them that we need to continue to work
25:03 and win the additional rounds
25:04 while the rounds are left.
25:06 [crowd shouting]
25:09 >> Definitely can say that this one
25:16 has lived up to the billing.
25:18 Both these guys were in one another's face
25:21 yesterday and weigh in some bad blood on display,
25:24 and both these guys have definitely come to fight
25:26 as Don Ochoa just pushes Alejandro back.
25:30 >> It looks like an even matchup on paper.
25:33 That's exactly what's playing out in front of us.
25:37 >> I mean, that's really what we get here
25:39 time and time again at Hollywood Fight Nights.
25:43 Solid fights, well-matched fights
25:45 from top to bottom, and this one, no exception.
25:50 [crowd shouting]
25:53 >> There's 20 seconds where nothing is happening,
25:56 and I think the guy that loses in this instance
26:00 would be Alejandro.
26:02 >> Yeah, I mean, in a close fight,
26:06 you don't want to let a third of a minute
26:09 just go by the wayside
26:10 because you didn't have any output.
26:12 >> Yeah, the first guy to let his hands go is Ochoa,
26:14 and Ochoa always throws more than one shot.
26:19 >> He's up against the ropes here, Jack Reese,
26:22 separating them.
26:24 And again, we've seen a lot of clinching
26:30 in the last couple of rounds
26:31 where we hadn't seen it prior in the fight.
26:34 And a left hand.
26:47 More volume here for Alejandro.
26:50 >> I think Ochoa, to me, is committing
27:00 an error in staying fit for his time.
27:02 He needs to be boxing from the outside.
27:04 >> I agree.
27:06 >> Crowd starting to get loud here inside Commerce Casino.
27:13 Final 20 seconds of this seventh round.
27:17 >> I think by being sort of flat-footed
27:20 and right in front of Alejandro,
27:22 Ochoa may have handed that round to Alejandro
27:26 because Alejandro has landed the best punches of this round
27:29 in the final 40 seconds of this round.
27:32 >> Ochoa may have landed more punches,
27:36 but Alejandro landed the telling punches.
27:39 Where as Shook, you can see Ochoa's head
27:43 go back when he gets punched.
27:45 >> Yeah, that's effective punching.
27:47 >> Yeah, and you know, in a close fight like this,
27:49 that body language tells the judges an awful lot.
27:53 And we're in a territory where I really don't think
27:55 either man can afford to drop anything.
27:58 So it's going to be very important.
28:01 >> He's stressed out.
28:02 >> I would tell my fighter to empty the tank.
28:06 This last round could be the round that decides the fight.
28:09 >> And as you mentioned, Alejandro,
28:19 he's the one on the road, if you will,
28:21 fighting in Anatochoa's house.
28:23 He definitely wants to leave, no doubt.
28:26 And for Ochoa, he definitely wants to do everything
28:29 in his power to make sure that he comes out on top
28:33 putting on a show in front of his home crowd.
28:36 And here we go, 8th and final round.
28:39 TJ DeSantis, Abel Sanchez, Doug Fisher.
28:43 Appreciate you joining us live here on UFC Fight Pass.
28:47 >> Does that make sense?
28:48 >> Adonichoa in the purple with gold.
28:51 Arnold Alejandro in the blue with white.
28:56 [crowd shouting]
28:59 >> What do you call that, a reverse one-two
29:18 when you land the right first and then follow it with the jab?
29:21 >> Yeah, we call it 21 in my opinion.
29:23 >> Oh, 21.
29:26 >> A two-one, I guess.
29:28 >> A two-one, yeah.
29:30 >> I think Ochoa needs more of those.
29:33 >> It is so important to change it up.
29:36 I would always ask my guys to lead with something else.
29:41 Give me the same combination of control,
29:42 but just lead with something else.
29:44 Say one-two-three, but lead with the right hand.
29:46 Or lead with a thing, lead with something.
29:48 So that changes the game.
29:49 You have to practice that with him.
29:51 [crowd shouting]
29:54 >> Oh!
29:55 >> Slip, slip.
29:57 He had already slipped.
29:58 He was on his way down to the canvas,
30:00 and then he ate a shot on his way down.
30:02 But it didn't go down because of the punch.
30:04 >> It was the shot that I was still worried about
30:06 because he took it, but--
30:07 >> He got smacked right in the face.
30:08 >> Yeah, I mean, that's the durability of Adonichoa.
30:11 Jack Reiss wisely recognizing that it was a slip.
30:16 I mean, a knockdown would have done some real damage
30:19 to Adonichoa's argument that he's winning this fight
30:23 in this last round.
30:24 >> Yeah, Jack's got great eyes.
30:26 [crowd shouting]
30:29 >> Here we go inside the final minute of this fight.
30:37 [crowd shouting]
30:40 Crowd coming alive for Pumpkin's Adonichoa.
30:46 [crowd shouting]
30:49 His right hand comes home for Alejandro.
30:52 [crowd shouting]
30:55 Here we go, final 30 seconds.
31:09 [crowd shouting]
31:13 [crowd shouting]
31:16 Both guys have some volume here in the final moments
31:24 of this fight, final 10 seconds.
31:27 [crowd shouting]
31:30 Ooh, nice couple of punches there
31:38 towards the end of the round by Arnold Alejandro.
31:44 Eight solid rounds of boxing action in the books.
31:48 The corner of Alejandro, they believe they have done enough.
31:51 Adonichoa, he's standing in the corner.
31:57 Playing to his fans, and we'll see how the judges score.
32:02 >> I've got it in a draw, 76-76.
32:05 >> Good draw.
32:06 >> Four rounds apiece.
32:09 >> It'll be interesting to see how the judges see it,
32:12 but a draw on the unofficial scorecard,
32:14 and this could have been a huge moment,
32:15 had it been scored a knockdown, but it was a slip.
32:21 >> I feel like Alejandro was more effective in the last round.
32:25 >> And see, I thought that Adonichoa wanted it more.
32:28 >> Yeah, he wanted it more, but he wasn't as effective,
32:30 in my opinion.
32:31 >> You're probably right.
32:33 >> A draw would not be out of the question.
32:36 >> It was a close fight, all the way through.
32:38 >> And it was one of those fights where a draw might be
32:41 best suited, because I don't know if either guy really
32:44 made that statement that they won without a question.
32:47 >> Nobody completely imposed his will and style on the other.
32:53 >> And if it's not a draw, it's a draw is fight by one point,
32:58 by one round, as you say.
33:00 >> And it was a fun fight, I think everyone watching at home
33:02 and definitely those in attendance were treated to a
33:06 special fight.
33:09 >> Very good fight.
33:11 [Cheering]
33:16 >> I think both of these guys have a lot to be proud of.
33:20 They came out and had a tough guy in front of them and both
33:23 did themselves a service by putting on a good performance,
33:29 but we'll see what the judges say.
33:32 They have tallied their tens and nines and to crown a potential
33:35 winner, here's Lupe Contreras.
33:39 >> Ladies and gentlemen, after going all eight rounds here at
33:41 the Commerce Casino and Hotel, we consult the official score
33:45 card to determine a winner.
33:47 Dr. Lou Moret scores about 80-72 in favor of Alejandro.
33:52 Judge Young, 77-75 in favor of Ochoa.
33:59 And Judge Barragan scores about 80-72 in favor of the winner
34:04 by way of split decision.
34:08 Arnold Alejandro!
34:15 [Ding]
34:16 >> Wow.
34:17 >> 12-1, Arnold Alejandro gets his hand raised tonight.
34:22 Split decision victory.
34:24 >> Not mad at all at Alejandro winning that fight, even by a
34:28 split nine.
34:29 >> Right.
34:30 >> Wow, shut out.
34:31 >> Yeah.
34:32 >> 80-72.
