00:00 The London police learned on Sunday that a second person had been arrested following the disappearance of a Banksy work,
00:05 which was taken from the scene of the stupefied witnesses shortly after being claimed by the enigmatic British artist.
00:11 The work, three aircraft that seem to be combat drones on a stop sign,
00:16 appeared on Friday morning at a crossroads in the Peckham district, in the south-east of London.
00:21 The artist quickly posted a photo of his work on his Instagram account,
00:26 via which he is used to authenticate his achievements.
00:29 Less than an hour later, witnesses filmed a man, judging on a bike,
00:33 disassembling the panel equipped with a cutting pliers, with the help of another man.
00:37 The video, which went viral on social media, then showed him running away with the work.
00:42 After arresting a man in his twenties on Saturday,
00:46 the London Metropolitan Police said on Sunday that they had placed a guard on sight
00:50 and saw a "generous frame" suspected of theft and degradation.
00:53 The first person arrested was released under judicial control
00:57 awaiting further proceedings in the case awaiting mid-March.
01:00 The London Metropolitan Police had initially indicated that they had received no reports
01:04 on the disappearance of the work.
01:06 But the City Council of Southwark, in charge of the reporting of this district,
01:11 said on Friday that it wanted to retrieve the panel and report the incident to the police.
01:16 The police invited anyone who was likely to have information on the incident
01:21 or on the location where the panel was to contact them.
01:24 Several works by Banksy, which sometimes reach millions of euros in auction,
01:28 have already been stolen in the past,
01:30 including a door to the Bataclan Parisian Hall,
01:32 which paid homage to the victims of the November 13 attacks.
01:35 Others were compromised, like a mural painting denouncing marital violence,
01:40 depicting a woman in the house wearing a 1950s or 1960s look,
01:45 disfigured by an eye with black butter and a broken tooth,
01:47 while the legs of a man exceed an old horizontal freezer,
01:51 very real, placed against the wall.
01:54 The freezer had been quickly removed for safety reasons,
01:57 confusing the understanding of the work before being reinstalled.
02:00 The ephemeral nature of the works is sometimes desired by Banksy himself
02:04 when, in 2018, the Balloon Girl was partially self-destructed in the middle of an auction,
02:10 provoking astonishment.
02:11 The artist intended to denounce the commodification of art through this performance.
02:16 But the price of the self-destructed work, renamed "Love is in the Trash",
02:20 was almost multiplied by 20 during a sale three years later,
02:23 exceeding €20 million.
