00:02 - Hi everyone, I'm James Wan,
00:06 director of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
00:09 For me, the fun stuff,
00:11 when Jason Momoa and Patrick Wilson are together,
00:14 they have good chemistry together.
00:15 For me as a filmmaker,
00:16 it's kind of fun to just sort of see them
00:18 goof around on set.
00:19 Probably the goofiest moments
00:20 is whenever they have to interact
00:23 with sea creatures that are not really there,
00:25 or that they are performed by someone in a green suit.
00:29 Shooting in the scene, we're all very serious,
00:31 but when you stand back
00:33 and you go look at it through the camera,
00:35 or on the monitor screen, it's pretty funny.
00:37 I really designed this film for the big screen.
00:39 I shot the movie aspect ratio 240,
00:42 which is cropped like that.
00:43 Then when I get into the big Atlanta scenes,
00:45 I would open it up, right?
00:46 Like into full, you know, sort of full screen, big screen.
00:49 And we spent a lot of hard work and effort in designing.
00:53 Every tiny little details undersea world.
00:56 I think people will see things on the big screen
00:59 that they may not see on TV.
01:01 I definitely do think that technology has improved
01:03 so dramatically between the first movie and this one
01:06 that I can kind of really,
01:08 I can push the animal off more.
01:09 We have a scene in the movie where a chase sequence,
01:12 almost like a car chase through Atlantis,
01:14 where they go through different parts of Atlantis,
01:17 and one of them is a night market.
01:18 So what does a night market looks like in Atlantis, right?
01:21 What does a freeway look like underwater?
01:23 All these things can just add
01:24 to the fun of making it and then ultimately watching it.
01:28 The movie has message as well.
01:30 The message of kind of protecting the world that we live in.
01:33 We only have one planet.
01:34 We all maybe need to come together,
01:36 put our differences aside and work as one.
01:39 I think, you know, like those are very universal messages.
01:42 And also the concept of Arthur
01:44 needing to work closely with his brother.
01:47 The concept of blood is thicker than water.
01:50 Family is important.
01:51 And so, you know, it plays with a lot of these themes
01:53 that I tend to play with in a lot of my films.
01:56 I cannot wait for everyone to check out this movie.
01:59 It's a continuation of the first film.
02:00 If you enjoyed and loved the first movie,
02:03 it's pretty much that and more.
02:05 We discovered new worlds and new characters,
02:07 and I'm super proud of it.
02:09 I hope you guys will have fun watching it.
02:11 See you in the theaters.
