Dumped senior dog's heartbreaking cry
Transcript
00:00 He was dumped in a shelter when he was about 16 years old.
00:03 [CRYING]
00:06 I'm Carly, and this is Link's story for GeoBeats.
00:09 I don't know why Link was dumped,
00:10 but I can assume the people weren't
00:13 able to take care of him with all the problems he
00:15 had going on.
00:17 A woman I know named Angel posted his picture
00:19 of him in the shelter when I fell in love with him
00:22 when I adopted him.
00:23 When I picked him up, he was shy,
00:24 had hardly any fur at all.
00:26 The most excited person to have Link here was my dog Toad.
00:30 The first few days, I think Toad was concerned because Link
00:41 would whine and itch so much because his skin was going
00:44 through a lot.
00:44 And any time Link would sit there and whine and scratch,
00:47 Toad would be right there sniffing him, nudging him.
00:49 It was like he thought he was his baby.
00:55 So they bonded a lot the first few days.
00:58 I've had Link for a little over two years now,
01:01 so he is around 18 years old.
01:04 It's amazing how different he looks.
01:06 Toad is very cuddly, very sweet.
01:09 He loves Link.
01:12 He's about 80 pounds, whereas Link is 7 pounds.
01:15 They will cuddle together on the couch.
01:18 When I'm walking both of them, people
01:22 will roll by in their car and say something like,
01:25 oh, that's quite a pair.
01:26 Link is very demanding.
01:28 He barks a lot.
01:29 When I take him out in public, I have
01:36 to hold him back from trying to go up and sniff
01:38 every single person that we come across.
01:40 In the original post about him, they
01:42 said he was a chihuahua, which I don't think--
01:45 It's OK.
01:45 Come on.
01:46 He might have chihuahua in him, but he's definitely
01:48 not a full-blown chihuahua.
01:49 Good job.
01:50 Link cannot be a chihuahua because when it's raining,
01:53 he does not care.
01:54 If it's snowing, he does not care.
01:56 It doesn't matter what the weather is.
01:59 Link wants to go outside, and I've
02:01 never met a chihuahua that wants to go out in the rain.
02:04 Before he started growing all his fur back,
02:06 I thought he might be part poodle, like the toy poodles.
02:09 But now, I don't have a clue.
02:15 When I look at him, I just feel warm and fuzzy
02:18 because he's such a cute little old man.
02:20 He has the puppy dog eyes down like you would not believe,
02:24 and he just sits and looks at me till I pick him up.
02:26 He does have cataract in one eye,
02:28 so his vision is not the best.
02:30 This dog has gotten every treatment
02:32 for allergies and skin problems you could possibly think of.
02:37 I feel lucky that I saw him.
02:39 [CAT MEOWING]
02:42 And I get to take care of him and make sure he's OK
02:44 and he can feel love in the last few years of his life.
