00:27 Number 10, Advance Wars 1 Plan 2 Reboot Camp.
00:34 It is so nice to see Nintendo give some love to one of its often forgotten IPs.
00:43 Advance Wars was one of the best games to play on the Game Boy Advance back in the day
00:48 thanks to its intricate level design and fun simplification of turn-based strategy games.
00:53 Developed by Wayford, Reboot Camp packages the first two games with brand new visuals,
00:58 animation, voice acting, and more.
01:01 What makes it even better is that the remake includes both local and online multiplayer,
01:08 allowing you to wage war with your friends over the internet or on the couch.
01:12 Let's hope the sales were strong enough to warrant more remakes or even a brand new
01:18 Advance Wars title soon.
01:26 Number 9, Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions.
01:38 Superstar Saga was already a brilliant RPG for the Game Boy Advance original.
01:43 The basic timing-based mechanics of attacking and defending made it an excellent entry point
01:48 for those new to RPGs.
01:50 Additionally, the story was wonderfully written with hilarious dialogue and intriguing lore.
01:57 This 3DS remake rebuilt Superstar Saga with the new art style and mechanics that developer
02:03 Alpha Dream was using for the series in 2017.
02:06 However, they also threw in a side campaign, Bowser's Minions, that fills in some plot
02:12 holes of the main story while also giving a whole new game to play.
02:17 There was a ton of value here and more fun to be had.
02:28 Number 8, Kirby Superstar Ultra.
02:37 The original Kirby Superstar was remarkable in how it crammed 8 games into one meaty package.
02:43 So what was different about the remake made for Nintendo DS?
02:47 For starters, each game mode had FMV cutscenes and utilized the sprite work Kirby games were
02:54 using at that time.
02:55 But the most substantial additions were the new games, Revenge of the King, Meta Nightmare
03:01 Ultra, Helper to Hero, and The True Arena.
03:05 There was more fun to be had with Kirby and friends, and it was an excellent way to preserve
03:09 the Super Nintendo original.
03:17 Number 7, Super Mario All-Stars.
03:27 How could anyone forget about Super Mario All-Stars?
03:30 This was basically one of Nintendo's first remakes ever.
03:34 With the power of Super Nintendo, players could relive the original Super Mario Bros.
03:39 as well as the 2nd and 3rd game.
03:41 But what the biggest draw was?
03:43 The inclusion of the lost levels, the actual Super Mario Bros. 2 that never saw a western
03:49 release due to Nintendo's belief that the difficulty would deter fans.
03:53 And all 4 games came with brand new sprites, animations, and music, breathing new life
03:59 into their levels.
04:04 Number 6, Fire Emblem Echoes Shadow of Valencia.
04:13 It's hard for a tactical RPG from the NES to need a remake, but for Shadows of Valencia,
04:22 it was more a case of "why not remake it?"
04:24 Fire Emblem Echoes remade the 1992 title Fire Emblem Gaiden and was made by developers who
04:30 worked on Fire Emblem Awakening as well as Fates.
04:34 Basically, it was a Famicom classic being brought forward with the new tools and mechanics,
04:39 new artwork and character models, the visual novel aspects, character relationships, the
04:44 whole 9 yards.
04:46 Simply put, there was no reason for any Fire Emblem fan to skip out on this one.
04:59 Number 5, Star Fox 64 3D.
05:08 We know Nintendo knows we all love Star Fox 64 too much, but it is honestly one of the
05:14 best games to come from the Nintendo 64.
05:17 So why not show how far we had come around the Nintendo 3DS's launch?
05:22 Star Fox 64 3D helped fully realize the original vision from 1997.
05:28 New character models, visual effects, and even voice acting helped this game make us
05:33 feel like we were playing the game for the first time ever.
05:36 On top of that, the battle mode here was much more refined than the Nintendo 64 version
05:41 with its addition of power ups and more intricate level designs.
05:52 Number 4, The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D.
06:03 We could go on and on about how the game looks incredible compared to the 1998 original,
06:09 but that wasn't the only reason why this remake stood out.
06:13 Back then, the inventory system was a bit cumbersome to deal with as it constantly had
06:18 to stop the game just so you could swap out weapons and items.
06:22 The 3DS mitigated that by designating the bottom screen to your inventory, making your
06:27 entire adventure more seamless.
06:30 The addition of visions were also a great way to help new players venture through Hyrule
06:35 and see why so many loved the original.
06:38 And lest we forget the inclusion of the Master Quest version that gave the game even more
06:43 replay value.
06:49 Number 3, Metroid Samus Returns.
06:57 Though you could play the Gameboy original Metroid 2 Return of Samus on 3DS already,
07:02 we were in desperate need of a tried and true Metroid game.
07:06 And it had to be one that wasn't tied to multiplayer so heavily.
07:10 Why not remake Metroid 2 then?
07:12 Samus Returns was excellent in how it displayed the 3DS's true visual fidelity while incorporating
07:19 modern mechanics of action games like parrying.
07:22 The controls may have taken a bit of time getting used to.
07:25 But when taken in appropriately lengthened play sessions, Samus Returns is thoroughly
07:31 enjoyable.
07:38 Number 2, Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver.
07:47 The DS era of Pokemon games were truly remarkable in how they blended 2D sprites of characters
07:52 with 3D environments.
07:54 Of course, there was also the inclusion of small bits like the ability to have your Pokemon
07:59 follow behind you like in Pokemon Yellow.
08:02 But for many, this was the chance to live or relive the most popular entry in the entire
08:08 franchise and see why so many cherished the Gold/Silver titles.
08:12 Plus, you could switch between the new soundtrack and the original Gameboy songs.

08:48 We had spent decades asking for a return to Super Mario RPG.
08:52 So much so, that many of us were asking for a simple port to the Switch Online SNES emulator.
08:59 But a full-blown remake for the Switch?
09:02 Admittedly, it is not the most life-altering remake out there, but it doesn't need to
09:08 be.
09:09 Super Mario RPG on Switch retains every aspect we loved about the original, while including
09:14 a brand new score from original composer Yoko Shimomura.
09:18 On top of that, you have new cutscenes, refined controls and mechanics, and the new triple
09:24 move mechanic.
09:25 RT Piazza did a wonderful job recapturing the magic that was Super Mario RPG.
