Transcript
00:00 Everywhere else in New York, happy hour starts at five o'clock, but here at Esquire magazine, it starts at 4.59.
00:07 So, let's go.
00:09 Hi, my name is Bill Dante. I'm the bartender here at the King Cole Bar in the St. Regis Hotel.
00:17 What I'm gonna make for you right now is the classic margarita, and a margarita is very simple elements.
00:24 Fresh crushed lime juice, agave syrup, good silver tequila, and a little bit of Lemon X,
00:31 sweetened lemon juice. Let's put this together.
00:34 Now you need four wedges of lime,
00:37 and what you're going to do is you're going to muddle them with the agave syrup.
00:42 It's very, very sweet and very intense. You're gonna use basically a good teaspoon. That's it.
00:48 You're gonna crush that up. You want to smash down all of that lime so that the juices are released
00:54 into the drink. Ice that up.
00:57 Good shot of silver tequila and just a splash of Lemon X. You don't want to add too much sweet.
01:12 You're gonna give that a good shake.
01:17 You need to prepare the glass.
01:19 I find if you're going to salt a glass rim, lemon works better.
01:24 Don't ask me why, it just does.
01:27 And you want to add a good amount of salt to the edge. Not too heavy.
01:32 Separate ice. You're gonna strain that in.
01:42 Voila! Perfect. Okay, and finish it with fresh lime wedge.
01:48 And that's the classic Margarita.
01:51 Margarita. Enjoy.
01:53 (upbeat music)
