2024 Summernats scrutineering

Scrutineering has begun for Canberra's annual Summernats street machine festival.

00:00 We check the cars for that, make sure everything is all ok.

00:07 So that safety factor, checking all your lights, checking your seatbelts, making sure everything

00:16 In the engine bays, you're checking the batteries are nice and secure within the boot, making

00:21 sure they're secure, making sure the accelerator return springs are all ok.

00:28 Going right over the car to make sure it is safe to drive around through any of our events.

00:38 Depends on the car, some will be a quick easy one, if they're doing a self declaration so

00:43 the car is all registered and they just want to go cruising, they don't want to do any

00:47 judging and things like that, that might be a 10 minute process.

00:50 Have a quick look at it, they go through their paperwork, sign off, we sticker it up, on

00:54 their way they go cruising.

00:55 If it's something totally out there, totally wild, it takes a bit longer to go over it,

01:01 but it might take 5-10 minutes sort of scenario.

01:03 Generally we have two people going over the car, make sure it's all ok.
