00:00 Hi, I'm Eva and I love race running.
00:06 So race running here at the Cerebral Palsy Alliance is a program we run for boys and
00:10 girls.
00:11 We call it race running.
00:12 The technical term is probably frame running, but here our group is called the Race Running
00:17 Squad.
00:18 It's a way for people to interact and basically gives them the freedom to be able to run using
00:25 a specialised frame.
00:27 For those who may have impaired balance or affected by cerebral palsy, they are able
00:33 to utilise this frame to run and join in on activities that they wouldn't otherwise be
00:39 able to.
00:40 A race runner looks like a frame.
00:42 It's got wheels and it's like riding a bike.
00:46 The seat is adjustable.
00:48 You're able to swap it out for a bike seat, a banana seat, whatever a client might need.
00:53 We'll generally have available for them to use.
00:57 There's also a chest plate.
00:59 Some clients don't use a chest plate.
01:01 Other clients may have one that they are strapped into.
01:03 It provides the support they need and builds strength and core stability and coordination.
01:10 So what I do is I put my feet on the ground.
01:13 I'm pedalling.
01:14 It's like so much fun.
01:17 Race running provides the ability for kids to be involved in the community, social participation.
01:24 It's really life changing.
