Burnley boss Vincent Kompany would rather watch his players on the pitch than on the training pitch as his side face just three Premier League games in January.

00:00 Probably you start the season with
00:02 wanting more training sessions than games and that's because of
00:06 the cohesion stuff, especially if you have a group of players that haven't played together and
00:12 then as the season goes I think now I'm at a point where I prefer more games and
00:18 than then too many training sessions. That's where
00:22 ultimately you see them make the most progress now is when they play games they go to Villa, they go to
00:28 every game we've played recently. That's when you see the group improving. So that's what I prefer at the moment.
00:34 I think now it's experience. It's building up the
00:38 just building up the finer details of this league, you know
00:45 being aware of key moments and all these things you can discuss in a video. You can show them footage, you can
00:55 practice in training, but the best way to learn is well getting hurt by it first and then
01:00 feeling the reward when you
01:03 when you wisen up to it. We've done so many things really well
01:09 but unless you have the points you're always left wanting for, you know, there's always a void and
01:18 that's our priority.
01:21 I don't make a big distinction between the fact that it's an FA Cup game or a Premier League game.
01:26 We have the opportunity to play against one of the best teams in England in the best league in the world.
01:32 So that means a lot and
01:34 treating that game as being an important game for us to continue, you know,
01:40 measuring ourselves with these teams. That's something for me that is important.
