00:00 "I started to feel like it was either her or me."

00:11 docuseries.
00:12 Over the course of 18 months, Blanchard was interviewed in prison for the documentary
00:16 project titled "The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard" that features several
00:20 new revelations about her that will surprise viewers.
00:23 "There's things that I've kept so private."
00:27 Ahead of its premiere this Friday, Blanchard spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about why
00:30 she wanted to open up in such a candid way and what she's been doing since her release.
00:35 The documentary project sees Blanchard share information that nobody previously knew, including
00:39 her own family.
00:41 When asked why she decided to open up now, she told THR, "I think the biggest reason
00:45 why I held back all this time and am kind of coming forward now is because I just wasn't
00:49 emotionally ready at the time.
00:51 There are a lot of things to unpack in my life, more than just with my mother.
00:54 And so I think at the time of doing my previous interviews, everything was so surrounded around
00:59 my mother and I.
01:00 So I think now I'm coming to a place where I could be more confident to open up a little
01:03 bit more and feel like I'm in a safe space enough to open up."
01:06 "She never wanted me to find love or be happy.
01:10 I'm sorry."
01:11 She also revealed how life has been since she was released on parole.
01:14 She said, "I've been spending my time reconnecting with my dad, Rod Blanchard, and my stepmom,
01:19 Christy, and really spending time with my husband.
01:21 We're back home in Louisiana now and we're settling into married life."
01:25 Blanchard made headlines when she recently revealed that she listened to Taylor Swift
01:29 while she was in prison.
01:30 When asked about her favorite song, Blanchard called herself a Swiftie and said, "I really
01:34 like the song 'Eyes Open,' and I'm really digging 'Karma' right now.
01:38 Karma has been what I have been playing on my playlist a lot."
