No tolerance for corruption, even among parties that support me, says Anwar

The move by authorities to act and investigate certain individuals must not be politicised, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The Prime Minister said while it is normal for one to have loyalty and political leanings, authorities must be allowed to carry out their work, even if it involves individuals or political parties to which they have an affinity.

00:00 I understand the issue of controversy, because every time a move is taken,
00:06 especially if it is taken against big figures, it becomes a controversy.
00:12 These figures have a lot of money, have influence, have social media,
00:19 and of course will challenge the existing power.
00:25 That is why my general advice to the SPRM, the State Security Agency,
00:33 or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
00:36 is to have sufficient and solid data, facts, and reasons.
00:44 And if there is, I do not care about its position, its influence, its funds,
00:52 but the action must be taken.
00:57 And we have started, I congratulate the SPRM for showing courage.
01:05 If not, what happens, like the success of the latest PDRM in the case of Dada,
01:13 hundreds of thousands have been arrested. Who? The traders.
01:18 Dozens of thousands have been arrested. Who? Small agents.
01:22 But the big figures involved, bringing funds,
01:28 hundreds of millions of ringgit, and loss, burden, tens of billions of ringgit,
01:34 then the government pays billions of ringgit to restore the situation,
01:39 that is not touched.
01:41 Even if it is arrested, it is quickly released.
01:44 That is the good thing about my experience in Sungai Bulu.
01:48 Because I have seen people who were arrested,
01:53 but were quite sure that within 3-4 months they could be released.
01:56 It means that there is a suspicion that the whole system,
02:01 the body of power, the body of government, the body of the judiciary,
02:06 can be influenced.
02:11 Alhamdulillah, we have the certainty now.
02:17 If you want to be a leader, you must face the risks.
02:23 Because the money from our children is being taken away.
02:29 School fees, allowance for additional police,
02:33 allowance for the bomb squad,
02:36 all of these are being investigated thoroughly.
02:41 If you want to raise your salary a little for public office,
02:44 you have to know the rules.
02:46 How much can you raise? 40 ringgit? 60 ringgit?
02:49 Who is this person who has billions of ringgit?
02:52 No one is talking.
02:54 And it is not like that.
02:57 Some people are defending. "Enough, this is old."
03:01 "This person is old."
03:04 Some people are saying, "Enough, this is revenge."
03:07 I am a guest enter in the cabinet.
03:12 If under my administration,
03:17 if someone tells me there is a corruption case,
03:21 I believe that I have not committed any corruption.
03:24 Tansi Azam knows my position.
03:28 And if there is someone in the party who supports me or opposes me,
03:35 that is another matter.
03:37 It does not affect the decision.
03:39 But I am firm on this matter.
03:41 And this is a good forum, I explain.
03:45 If we do not start with courage,
03:48 it is impossible for us to save this country.
