00:00 After a stable year of 2023, banks are back on track in 2024.
00:04 Accounts, credit cards and other fees are rising,
00:07 with an average increase of 2.5% to 3%,
00:10 says the CLCV association in its conclusion of its annual study published on Tuesday.
00:15 These are small consumers,
00:17 who have a set of basic services,
00:19 account holding fees,
00:21 cash flow cards,
00:22 and so-called "medium" consumers,
00:23 two owners with each a card with a loss and theft insurance,
00:27 a bank check every ten years,
00:28 who are subject to the highest inflation,
00:30 respectively 2.97% and 3%.
00:34 Their annual bank fees,
00:36 applied for the most part since January 1,
00:38 this year are 66.23€ for the first profile
00:42 and 147.80€ for the second.
00:45 The estimated inflation in France was 3.7% over a year in December,
00:49 according to INSEE.
00:50 The big consumers, in the sense of CLCV,
00:54 that is to say two owners with a gold card or first,
00:56 a loss and theft insurance or many other fees,
00:59 will see their bill inflated from 2.52%
01:02 to 207.65€ in 2024.
01:05 The authors of the study say that these increases are mainly due to the evolution of account holding fees,
01:11 plus 3%,
01:12 of the cost of bank cards,
01:14 and to the increase in package rates,
01:16 these services are considered to be unprofitable for the customer.
01:19 The CLCV also points to the changes brought by some establishments
01:23 to the rules applicable to withdrawal from automatic bill distributors,
01:26 such as the increase in the withdrawal cost in another network
01:29 and the decrease in the number of free withdrawals authorized in a competing bank.
01:33 However, at the same time, banks dismantle their automatic bill distributors,
01:38 cutting their number to fall by 12% between 2018 and 2022,
01:42 according to the French Banking Federation (FBF).
01:45 Comparison
01:46 Banks also tend to charge more for operations carried out in agencies,
01:51 which penalizes people who are not able to apply for online operations
01:56 or for less common operations,
01:57 emphasizes the association.
01:59 The CLCV has removed the tariff grids from a hundred establishments,
02:03 including BNP Paribas,
02:05 Société Générale or the regional cash registers of the Agricultural Credit or BPCE networks.
02:09 This year's increases are higher than those observed in 2022,
02:13 more than 2.5% on small and medium-sized consumer profiles,
02:17 and in 2023, almost stable for all.
02:21 The CLCV makes these comparative tables public.
02:24 We can see that the cooperative credit and some agricultural credit cash registers
02:28 are rather competitive in all segments of the market
02:31 when LCL is for small consumers and BNP Paribas for medium-sized consumers.
02:35 The SG, a merger of the banks' networks of Société Générale and Credit du Nord,
02:40 is among the most expensive banks on all profiles,
02:43 as are popular banks to a lesser extent.
02:46 Incidence of incidents
02:48 The average amounts calculated by the CLCV do not include any interest for bank incidents.
02:53 The Panorabanque comparator, which integrates its costs into its calculations,
02:57 concluded last year that it averaged a third of the total bank fees.
03:01 According to him, the annual average of the total bank fees,
03:05 all these types of consumers combined,
03:07 with the interest rates,
03:08 rose from €2,023 to €220.60,
03:11 which is more than the big consumer profile of the CLCV.
03:15 The CLCV is also interested in and notes that banks charge for the vast majority
03:19 the legal ceiling of the commission of intervention, €8,
03:22 or the fees for the rejection of cheques, €50 for a cheque of more than €50.
