00:34 route from the Quirino Grandstand to the Quiapo Church. The icon draws an ardent following of
00:39 devotees who believe it is miraculous. Many try to get as close to its carriage as possible,
00:44 or even touch the icon itself, raising the risk of mishaps. Thousands of police were deployed to
00:50 ensure order. About 80 percent of the Philippines' 110 million people identify as Roman Catholic.
