00:01So before we move any further into our journey off effectively using keywords in our mind
00:08maps,
00:08let's briefly review what a mind map is in a nutshell.
00:14Ah,
00:15mind map is a visual diagram used to record an organized information mind maps can look at
00:22simple.
00:22Is this as complicated as this,
00:26or even as creative as this?
00:29No matter how your mind map looks in the end,
00:35regardless,
00:36if you're creating it digitally or through APS and software or hand drawing your mind map,
00:43more than likely you'll end up using any number of these basic universal principles to
00:50structure the creation of your mind map.
00:53The first principle being the use of a central image.
00:56Central images are drawn in the center of your mind map.
01:00They're based on a central theme or topic that your mind maps Centers around.
01:06Central images are one of the most important parts of your mind map because they serve as
01:12an anchor in which all connecting thoughts,
01:15images and ideas can radiate outward from since the theme of this mind map is how to create
01:22a mind map.
01:23Having an image of a brain with two circular arrows around it seems appropriate.
01:29The second principle consists of using main branches,
01:33each main branch you use in your mind map acts to connect the central image with associate
01:40ideas,
01:41thoughts and images rating outward from the central image.
01:46Which brings us to the third principle of mind mapping the use of color.
01:51Yea,
01:52using color markers,
01:55pencils or lines in your mind map allow you to quickly distinguish information contained
02:02within your map.
02:03Therefore,
02:04making it easier to remember and understand that said,
02:08using color in my hand drawn my maps isn't something I always do,
02:14especially when I'm in the middle of a quick brainstorming session.
02:18I'll just grab a piece of blank paper,
02:21the pen that's in front of me and get to work mapping out my ideas as quickly as possible.
02:27It may not be the traditional way to mind map,
02:30however.
02:31It works well enough.
02:32The fourth principal centres all around keywords.
02:36Even though you can create a mind map without color,
02:39you absolutely can not create a mind map without keywords.
02:47Key words are the lynchpin of mind mapping because they sum up the entire idea sentence or
02:55phrase under one or two essential words in this course will dive deep into how using
03:04keywords effectively can take your mind maps to the next level.
03:09But for now,
03:10let's move on and keep reviewing what my maps are.
03:14Sub branches.
03:16The fifth principle of mind mapping sub branches are the fifth step of mind mapping because
03:23they allow you to connect additional associated thoughts,
03:27images and ideas to already existing main branches.
03:32The's additional connections allow for further exploration in expansion of each new topic,
03:39or idea the number of sub bridges that you end up having will again be mostly determined by
03:46you,
03:47the subject matter and how deeply you'd like to explore and expand upon each keyword.
03:53For some topics,
03:55it's important to dig deep and not be afraid of adding even more branches within branches
04:02within your mind map.
04:04For every new ideas section or thought,
04:07you have feel free to add a new branch.
04:10When it comes to mind mapping,
04:11the possibilities are endless.
04:14The seventh principle is all about images.
04:17Images make your mind maps more awesome and mawr amazing by just simply using them.
04:26And images don't need to be good when you use them in your mind.
04:30when you take the time to draw out pictures,
04:35symbols,
04:36icons or whatever for your mind maps to accompany keywords,
04:41something seriously astonishing happens within your brain that unlocks and unleashes your
04:50creative thinking.
04:51Oh,
04:52along with your ability to recall or remember all the little details within your mind map.
04:59Whoa!
05:00Hashtag mind blown.
