Tettenhall route if 'no-right turn' is introduced at junction

Councillor Bob Maddox made this video showing the route which traffic will be required to take in order to comply with the proposed ‘no right turn’ at the Lower Street/Henwood Road/A41 junction in Tettenhall, Wolverhampton. It shows the proposed route through the Lothians Road and Stockwell Road sections.

00:00 Hi, it's just about 9.30 on the 4th of January. Now, as many of you are aware, the Councillors
00:15 from Technal Regis and Technal Whittock have negotiated an extension to the consultation
00:21 period regarding changes to the right turn at Lower Street, Henwood Road. This will affect
00:29 people on a much, much wider area than simply the residents around here, although they will
00:35 take the brunt of the traffic increase. So, I'm now on Codsall Road, and if you are coming
00:42 from Codsall, Billbrook, Pendyford, Aldersley, Claregate, etc., and you wish to turn right
00:52 onto the A41, once these proposals are in operation, this is what you'll have to do.
00:59 We're coming up now on Codsall Road to Lothians Road. This is where you will turn if you wish
01:05 to go onto the A41. So, round into Lothians Road we go. No major problems so far, although
01:16 it is quite a densely populated residential area. But you'll see the problems begin a
01:28 little further on. Coming along here now, suddenly down she goes to a one, essentially
01:38 a country lane, a one track road. And the problems are beginning, although this will
01:45 of course be one way, which will alleviate some things. But here's a major problem, no
01:51 footpath, thank you, no footpath, and you can see the danger to residents, even though
01:58 it will be one way. Another problem is the nature of the road. Look at this blind bend
02:05 here, round we go and still no footpaths. Now, the lady there with the dog is forced
02:11 off the road, although this will be one way, that can lead to an increase in the speed
02:16 of traffic because people prior to this have been aware there could be something coming
02:21 the other way and they self-regulate, if you will, on speed. Right, we're turning right
02:28 into Stockwell Road, which is where again you'll be required to go if you want to access
02:33 the A41. Again, quite narrow, beginning to widen out now, footpaths just on the left
02:42 hand side on this one. Now ahead is Stockwell House. Now there's planning permission just
02:47 being granted here for a renovation on that which is sorely needed. However, at the back
02:54 of that now, there's planning permission as part of the renovation for three five bedroom
02:59 houses. That will increase traffic out onto Daines Court Road and through here. Now, there's
03:07 Daines Court Road, if you want to access the A41 to go to Telford, Sheffnall, Brighton
03:13 etc. that will be your route. And again, it's narrow as you can see, there are problems
03:20 there. We'll follow this round now at Stockwell Road. This will be two way traffic on this
03:27 section. Okay, we're turning right again following Stockwell Road around. And here
03:48 we go on a road which will lead us down, as many of you will know, to Telford's fabulous
03:55 children's paddling pool. Now, there's another potential problem here. The traffic that would
04:01 have turned right at Lower Street and Henwood Road is now going to be coming down here.
04:07 Now again, in the summer, this is crowded with children particularly and there's the
04:12 potential here for an accident. We're approaching the A41, a junction many of you will know.
04:19 Now as far as I'm aware, there's no plans for traffic control here. So, no traffic lights.
04:25 Make your own way. We seem to be shifting a problem from one junction to another. This
04:32 can be very, very busy as many of you will know. So, a right turn here is going to be
04:44 pretty difficult. I think we've just translated a problem from one area to another. Make your
04:49 own mind up. Okay, I'll leave it there. I'm heading back down towards the junction. Any
04:56 comments please get in touch with the council at TRO Consultations. I will put that link
05:05 on at the end of this video. Also, please feel free to contact any of your Technol Wittick
05:12 or Technol Regis councillors. For Technol Regis, that's Councillor Singh, Councillor
05:17 Khan, Councillor Maddox. And again, the contact details will be on the end of this. And for
05:27 Technol Wittick, it's Councillor Thompson, Councillor Crofts and Councillor Turrell.
05:35 Thanks for watching and I hope this has helped clear a few questions in people's mind. Bye
05:40 now.
