00:00 On a night where Chelsea were struggling to take their chances, Michael Carrick's Middlesbrough
00:08 took advantage. Isaiah Jones burst through and played a ball across to Hayden Hackney
00:14 who finished coolly into the net, giving Middlesbrough a crucial lead 10 minutes before the half-time
00:20 interval. Before that came, Chelsea missed another golden chance and in the second half
00:26 were unable to put the ball in the net. Only three days after a cruel last-minute FA Cup
00:31 loss against Aston Villa, Michael Carrick will be encouraged with his side's ability
00:36 to bounce back against another Premier League opponent. Chelsea will certainly rue missed
00:41 chances but will take comfort with the second leg being at Stamford Bridge. For Borough,
00:47 it could now be a case of protecting what they have. A draw in London would be good
00:52 enough to see them get to Wembley but will Carrick push for a bigger advantage in two
00:57 weeks' time?
