00:00 "Sorry, I wasn't expecting... but it is a pleasant image to be sure.
00:08 Most pleasant, in fact."
00:10 Welcome to Mojo Plays, and today we're looking at the sweetest and spiciest romanceable characters
00:16 in Baldur's Gate 3.
00:17 This will involve spoilers for the game's companions and their individual character
00:21 quests.
00:22 "I guess we better get the day on.
00:24 So much to do, so much to see."
00:26 Before we begin, we publish new content all week long.

00:35 The Emperor.
00:36 "Your salvation.
00:37 And not for the first time.
00:40 I saved you before."
00:43 In an RPG full of romance options, many players wonder if they can eventually pursue the dream
00:48 guardian that figures heavily in the main story.
00:50 The answer is technically yes, but given that players craft this guardian's appearance
00:55 themselves in character creation, there's obviously a twist in the works.
01:00 The dream guardian is actually an ancient mind flayer named the Emperor, disguising
01:04 himself to earn your trust.
01:06 "I was a thrall like any other.
01:08 But I was fortunate.
01:10 I broke free and started a new life in my old city."
01:15 He has a checkered past that he will tell you basically nothing about unless you force
01:19 his hand.
01:20 As you get to know this manipulative figure, he makes a pass at you in a later dream sequence.
01:25 Select the right dialogue options, and he can switch into his dream guardian guise instead
01:30 of his true form.
01:31 None of your companions will comment on this one night romance if you choose to pursue
01:35 it, which is probably for the best.
01:46 Halson
01:47 "Just as I hoped they would more like.
01:50 The Oak Father has been kind to me this past while.
01:54 Yet I cannot forget the bond we all forged together."
01:58 The archdruid of Act 1's Emerald Grove made a big impression before Baldur's Gate 3
02:03 was even released.
02:04 He became the star of the preview showcase when his romance scene turned hairy.
02:21 After saving the Druid's Grove, be sure to flirt with Halson at the Tiefling's celebration.
02:25 Complete Halson's requests in Act 2, including taking him along while purging the land of
02:29 a deadly curse, and you'll be firmly in the Wood Elf's good graces.
02:34 Halson practiced the boundless and free-flowing love found in nature, meaning that you can
02:38 romance him alongside poly-friendly companions Shadowheart and Asterian.
02:43 With Halson and another polyamorous companion in the party, the flirty travel banter can
02:48 get a little wild.
02:59 Mazora
03:07 On the opposite end of the alignment chart, the half-demon Mazora can make you a fiery
03:12 offer in the game's final act.
03:14 First, remember to save her from certain death in an important Act 2 side quest.
03:19 She'll repay the favor by tormenting both you and your companion Will once you reach
03:23 Baldur's Gate.
03:25 Even though Mazora is a conniving lawyer from hell, she is true to her word, offering more
03:30 than mortal flesh, blood, and bone in a unique supernatural romance scene.
03:41 A few companions will understand why you fell into her clutches, but most will judge you
03:45 for it.
03:46 Especially Will.
03:55 Is a dalliance with Mazora worth betraying your most goody-two-shoes ally?
03:59 We'll leave that up to you.
04:12 Baldur's Gate 3's secret evil companion has a surprisingly touching romance for a
04:17 character who many players experience as an early game mini-boss.
04:21 Prior to Patch 5, few players ever got to see this steely dro paladin's final form.
04:25 Recruiting her used to mean permanently losing other companions by committing some pretty
04:30 heinous war crimes.
04:32 But now, you simply have to use non-lethal damage to knock her unconscious instead of
04:36 killing her.
04:45 Minthara is a fierce, loyal, and surprisingly wise companion with unique takes on the events
04:51 of the story.
04:52 When you cross paths with her again in Moonrise Towers, you can help her heal from losing
04:56 her home in the Underdark and learn what it means to enjoy life.
05:08 Gale
05:19 This talking wizard Gale is one of the first companions you can romance in Baldur's
05:23 Gate 3.
05:24 Simply feed him a few low-quality magical items, and he'll regale you with all the
05:28 wonders of the weave.
05:30 His romance scenes are truly out of this world.
05:33 He has a cute and fluffy Tressum best friend, and he'll gladly sing your praises.
05:47 What's the catch?
05:48 He has unfinished business with his ex, Mystra, the goddess of magic.
05:53 While you can steer most other companions away from the domineering influences of their
05:57 past, separating Gale from Mystra creates more problems than it solves, to put it mildly.
06:02 Still, if you're willing to help Gale get back on his goddess ex-girlfriend's good
06:06 side, this romance is a solid choice with a satisfying conclusion.
06:24 The Blade of Frontiers is arguably the most well-adjusted companion on your team, which
06:29 is saying something as he's a disowned prince in Thrall to a Half-Demon.
06:34 Once Will comes clean to you about his warlock patron, you can romance him by making noble
06:38 choices in the main story.
06:40 Eventually, he'll dust off his dancing shoes and treat you to the game's sweetest PG
06:45 romance.
06:56 Most romances in Baldur's Gate 3 force you to battle your companion's inner demons,
07:00 but Will's demon is very literal, so this romance choice is virtually angst-free.
07:05 Will's character quest is one of the games most involved, however.
07:08 Be sure to break his pact with Mazora, save his captive father, and reconcile father and
07:13 son by tracking down a legendary beast beneath the city.
07:17 Will's romance ticks all the boxes of a classic fairy tale.
07:20 Dragons, princes, and good conquering evil.
07:29 Lae'zel
07:38 With a sharp sword and an even sharper tongue, Lae'zel isn't exactly the cuddliest companion
07:43 you meet in Act 1.
07:45 In fact, her first romantic overtures feel more like threats than invitations.
07:50 Past her tough shell, however, there's a shocking amount of depth if you continue Lae'zel's
07:54 romance through to its conclusion.
07:56 To experience this warrior's touching change of heart, you'll have to support Lae'zel
08:01 when she starts thinking for herself rather than blindly following the githyanki lich
08:04 queen.
08:13 Defying Vlakith involves a difficult optional fight in Act 3 and a slightly tougher final
08:18 boss battle, but Lae'zel's incredibly well-written growth arc is worth it, even if her romance
08:24 endings are mostly bittersweet.
08:26 If you want the happiest possible conclusion to this hidden gem romance, make sure to play
08:30 as a fellow githyanki.
08:40 Shadowheart
08:49 When you first meet trickery cleric Shadowheart in Baldur's Gate 3, she won't tell you
08:53 which god she worships or offer any information about the mysterious artifact she carries.
08:59 Turns out, she's not just the quiet type.
09:02 She has very little memory of the majority of her life.
09:06 Shadowheart's air of mystery and possibly her useful guidance cantrip have made her
09:10 the most popular romanceable character in Baldur's Gate 3 as of Patch 5.
09:22 To achieve the happiest ending, you have to turn her away from the evil goddess Shar and
09:26 survive the game's most blatantly unfair fight.
09:29 The reward?
09:30 A unique romance in which Shadowheart gets to know herself while she falls for you.
09:41 Astarion
09:53 Why romance the diabolical vampire spawn Astarion?
09:56 The first reason is the sense of danger.
09:59 In Astarion's initial romance scene, a couple of low persuasion rolls can result in your
10:03 untimely death.
10:04 However, there's so much more to this rogue than sharp teeth and the party's best hair.
10:10 Neil Nubon's award-winning performance captures the complicated process of healing from trauma
10:15 and abuse with sensitivity and realism.
10:18 Supporting Astarion's newfound freedom will both endear him to you and intimidate him.
10:23 If you're more into villains than heroes, Astarion is the perfect choice.
10:32 Unlike other companions, both the good and evil final forms of Astarion remain in love
10:37 with you.
10:38 He can either heal and grow into a better person than his abuser, or become a cackling
10:43 vampire ascendant who has learned nothing.
10:46 Both are popular options for Faerun's sweetest bloodthirsty monster.
10:56 Karlak
11:02 One of the most beloved characters in Baldur's Gate 3 is a hard-hitting tiefling barbarian
11:07 with a heart of gold.
11:09 Metaphorically, that is.
11:10 Literally, the archdemon Zariel replaced Karlak's heart with an infernal engine.
11:15 This switch delivers massive power, but over the course of your journey together, you learn
11:19 that the engine will overheat and kill Karlak unless she returns to a life she hates in
11:24 the Hells.
11:25 In a fantasy world where villains often find success, seeing a genuinely good person like
11:30 Karlak dealt such a bad hand tugs at the heartstrings.
11:43 Even after all she's been through, Karlak keeps her kind-hearted and vulnerable nature,
11:47 constantly pushing the player to do the right thing.
11:53 Her romance is so touching that Larian added a happier ending by popular demand.
12:05 Who is your go-to romance pick in Baldur's Gate 3?
12:08 Leave your choice in the comments.
12:21 Thanks for watching.
12:31 Bye!
