00:00 That mindset for me has changed a lot.
00:01 And that's what I was trying to say,
00:03 but didn't know how to spit it out in a way.
00:05 But yes, you got a twin.
00:07 Hi, I'm Bri.
00:07 And I'm Nikki.
00:08 And we're the Garcia twins.
00:10 And this is our Women's Health Body Scan.
00:13 Ooh, twins.
00:15 What I love about my body, I have to say,
00:18 I've always loved the muscles that I have.
00:21 I just have always appreciated it.
00:22 I've appreciated it when I played soccer,
00:25 when I wrestled as a mom,
00:28 even stuff with my husband, dancing and other things.
00:32 I appreciate my muscle mass.
00:33 And I remember growing up thinking like,
00:36 oh, I have thunder thighs.
00:38 And then when Shakira sang about it,
00:39 I was like, you know what?
00:40 This is a very good thing.
00:42 Right now, I've been really loving my smile.
00:44 Maybe I'm smiling a lot more.
00:46 And so I'm noticing it.
00:47 My kids make me laugh a lot.
00:49 A body part that I didn't like so much when I was young
00:53 that now I like and appreciate
00:55 would have to be my chin, which sounds crazy.
01:00 But I will say, as a kid, I hated it.
01:03 I had a strong chin.
01:04 I think the older I get, I actually enjoy it now.
01:07 I always felt the same.
01:08 And it's true.
01:09 What I've realized is this is family history.
01:12 This is roots.
01:13 And some people would have gotten rid of that,
01:15 which people have, especially in our industry,
01:17 'cause we all have to look a certain way.
01:19 But I've learned to appreciate it
01:20 because this is family history for me.
01:22 And every time I get a facial,
01:23 they're like, you're so lucky.
01:24 - I know, right? - You have a chin.
01:25 I'm like, I am?
01:26 Thanks.
01:27 - Want some?
01:28 Just kidding.
01:29 - Something that I thought when I was young
01:31 that would kinda get my brain thinking differently
01:34 to how I think now would definitely be my stomach, right?
01:38 Because when you're a kid,
01:40 like we're wearing two-piece swimsuits,
01:41 you're wearing crop tops.
01:43 You know, being young,
01:44 you wanna show as much skin as possible.
01:46 But I think when I became a mom,
01:47 the one thing I appreciated actually was
01:50 people will say, oh, you dress like a mom,
01:52 which I'm like, yeah, thank God.
01:53 I love it that I don't feel the need to have crop tops,
01:55 but is what my body was capable of doing.
01:58 Even though it doesn't look the same after,
02:01 it just reminds you of the journey you've been on.
02:03 - I think for me, the mindset which changed
02:05 is when I was younger,
02:07 it was more about outer appearance of the body.
02:10 And as I got older, it was about inner.
02:11 It was more about health.
02:13 - And that's what I was trying to say,
02:15 but didn't know how to spit it out in a way.
02:16 But yes.
02:17 - You got a twin.
02:18 - Very much so.
02:19 - We share a brain.
02:20 I got that part of it.
02:21 So, you know. - Thank you.
02:23 - My physical activity and exercise routine right now,
02:27 it's changed a lot actually, becoming a mom,
02:29 because one thing that I've realized is majority,
02:32 if not all your energy goes to your child or your children.
02:36 So for me, it's shifted in the way that I focus
02:39 more on low impact and being a woman who's about to be 40.
02:42 I know that, okay, for good health,
02:44 I need to make sure I'm lifting weights twice a week.
02:47 Now I'm not in a stage anymore where I'm like 250 squat.
02:51 It's like 10 pound dumbbells,
02:54 and I just know I need to get my reps in.
02:56 And more focused on power walking than running,
02:59 because it's not about having my knees ache.
03:02 It's just about getting my blood flow going.
03:04 So really, I've changed a lot to low impact,
03:06 but I feel great.
03:08 And stretching.
03:10 I've brought in so much stretching into my routine,
03:13 and it could be yoga or just stretching
03:15 while I'm playing with my kid.
03:16 I've tried to do things and they actually think it's fun.
03:20 And so you just feel great.
03:22 When I'm in a gym, I always have to start with cardio.
03:25 I have to get on a treadmill.
03:27 I do at least 30 minutes.
03:28 I need to sweat.
03:29 And then I go to the weights.
03:31 And I kind of have this thing
03:32 where I always start with my arms.
03:34 I do a couple different sets.
03:37 I feel like going to so many pure bar classes.
03:40 I know how to do the whole class.
03:41 - We're obsessed with pure bar.
03:43 - So I'll do that, and then I move into squats,
03:45 and I do it with a kettlebell.
03:46 I always end with stretching.
03:47 - I've been better about starting with stretching,
03:50 but I was always so bad at that.
03:52 - My go-to meal, when I know I'm gonna have a crazy week,
03:56 I always go to Whole Foods and get the paleo chicken
04:00 that's already cooked in the ready-to-eat section.
04:03 I always put that in my fridge
04:05 with the Primal vegan buffalo sauce.
04:08 And that is my thing that I literally will have
04:11 for lunch and dinner. - You're obsessed with that.
04:12 - I'm obsessed with it.
04:14 And it's just my go-to of, okay, I'm being healthy,
04:17 and I'm full, it's already made,
04:19 and I don't mind eating chicken cold, and I'm satisfied.
04:22 - I love to cook.
04:23 I always think vegetable first.
04:25 That's my biggest thing.
04:26 I need more intake than that,
04:28 than I think about my protein.
04:29 And then I always love to add rice to everything.
04:32 That's my comfort.
04:33 So stir-fries is the biggest thing I love to create.
04:36 I kill it at stir-fries.
04:38 So satisfied, and I'm full forever,
04:41 and I just feel like my body got everything.
04:43 - I have two go-to snacks. - I do, too.
04:45 - Smart Pop.
04:46 - Oh my gosh. - That's a good one.
04:47 - I mean, I always have the family size in my cupboard.
04:51 And then I always make sure to have carrots, celery ready,
04:56 and I do the primal ranch.
04:58 For me, raw veggies as a snack, even for my kids,
05:01 is so great, and sliced apples.
05:04 I feel so satisfied, and if my kids aren't feeling it,
05:06 I always will give them their own little dipping things,
05:09 and I put that ranch in, 'cause who doesn't like to dip?
05:11 - My go-to, which I feel like I've been known for,
05:14 are nut thins.
05:15 - Oh gosh, yes.
05:16 - I'm obsessed with nut thins.
05:17 By the way, they have no sugar in 'em,
05:19 and you could have like 16, and it's only 130 calories,
05:22 so I'm like, yeah.
05:24 And then turkey sandwich meat,
05:26 but it's the Applegate Whole30,
05:28 so I'm like, okay, no preservatives.
05:30 And I put it on top of my nut thin, and I eat it.
05:32 And that is like my snack.
05:34 It goes in my car with me.
05:35 - You love it. - I'm so hungry.
05:38 - I feel like I am two love languages.
05:40 I'm gonna pick two, is that fine?
05:41 Yeah, I'm gonna pick three.
05:42 Definitely affirmation for me.
05:44 I'm just one of those.
05:44 I really love when someone acknowledges something I did,
05:49 not only for them, but I'm doing.
05:51 So when my husband's like,
05:52 wow, you worked really hard in the garden,
05:54 or you cleaned the house really nice,
05:55 or that was a really amazing dinner,
05:58 I literally am like over the moon.
06:00 And even when my kids acknowledge certain things,
06:02 I'm like, oh my gosh, really?
06:04 So I'm definitely--
06:05 - I'm the exact same as her.
06:06 - But also touch, physical touch is great for me.
06:09 - I'm with her there too.
06:10 - Right?
06:11 - I wanna still know I got it.
06:12 I'm sexy.
06:13 I want him to walk by me in the kitchen and grab my butt.
06:16 It makes me feel so loved.
06:17 - It makes us feel loved and wanted.
06:19 You might say it a hundred times in a day,
06:21 but I need the touch to reaffirm it.
06:23 - Yeah, I need the kisses.
06:24 But I have one more.
06:26 - Wow, I know which one it is.
06:28 - Yeah, receiving gifts.
06:29 - Yeah.
06:30 (laughing)
06:31 - It could be the simplest thing, it really could.
06:33 I mean, you could go from something little to diamonds.
06:35 Like, it could be his choice,
06:37 but there is something about getting a gift from someone
06:40 that you just can't help but smile
06:42 and feel giddy and all that.
06:43 So that's definitely in love language.
06:45 But you know what else is fun is we have a new show
06:47 coming out, Twin Love, which you can stream on Amazon Prime
06:51 and you're gonna see a lot of love languages there.
06:53 This show that Bri and I hosted,
06:55 it was a social dating experiment
06:56 where we invite 10 sets of identical twins.
06:59 So they are identical, just like Bri and I,
07:02 and we split them up into identical houses
07:04 with identical cast.
07:06 You're gonna get to watch them find their journey of love,
07:08 but also their journey of being individuals,
07:11 which is really neat.
07:12 - And hard for twins.
07:13 - I bet you'll binge it fast and you'll want more.
07:16 Well, goodness, I feel like the world
07:18 saw one of my injuries.
07:19 That's a scar breaking my neck,
07:21 which definitely was life-changing.
07:23 I had an incredible comeback back in the ring,
07:26 but then re-injured myself.
07:27 So life has changed in that way,
07:29 whether it's been working out
07:31 or not being able to ski or snowboard
07:33 and do certain things that I used to love.
07:36 But you know, when things change,
07:37 then other doors open and incredible things come.
07:40 And so now I look at my scars
07:42 that even though they could fade, they're always there,
07:45 but it reminds me of my career I had in the ring
07:48 and now, you know, the new chapter I'm in now.
07:50 - And a big scar that I have is my C-section scar.
07:53 We always like go into labor hoping for a natural birth,
07:58 and we always think we have this birthing plan.
08:00 It's gonna be so beautiful and peaceful
08:02 and go exactly how I want it.
08:04 But mine did not.
08:04 Both of them did not.
08:05 That's an important scar.
08:07 One I'll have the rest of my life,
08:08 and it's a positive one.
08:10 It reminds me of really special, special babies.
08:13 Nikki and I are really big in mental health.
08:15 Every day doing something,
08:16 we believe that working your mind out
08:19 is just as important as working your body out.
08:22 We have to meditate every day just to get grounded
08:25 and understand our goal for the day.
08:27 Always start your day off with gratitude.
08:29 We feel it's so important.
08:31 And her and I love power walking.
08:33 Like we need our power walks
08:35 so we can just vent to each other.
08:37 I feel like having someone you could talk to
08:40 is so important in journaling.
08:41 What's so important about journaling
08:43 is it truly releases what's bothering you
08:48 or affecting your mind.
08:49 You're throwing it on the paper.
08:50 And I always say journaling's so important
08:52 with paper and pen or pencil and paper,
08:54 not in your cell phone.
08:56 Keep physically writing out whatever's going on here, here.
09:00 It's crazy what you release.
09:01 And even at times when it's bad things
09:04 to go then burn that paper.
09:06 And it's crazy what it does for your mindset and your soul.
09:09 'Cause everyone's like, "Oh, I have to take time out of my day."
09:12 Start at five minutes a day or even two minutes.
09:15 And you will see how great you feel
09:16 and you will keep adding more time and more time.
09:19 And you'll realize how it will not only change your day
09:21 but your life.
09:22 Yeah.
09:22 Twin Love is streaming now
09:23 and you could catch it on Amazon Prime or Freebie.
