00:18 Perhaps maybe Ryan Day had already made up his mind
00:21 that he was going to move on, but waited
00:23 for a certain date, certain threshold,
00:25 so that it would save them some money.

00:27 I think that happens pretty regularly in college football,
00:31 where coaches will wait till a certain date,
00:33 and it might save them an extra couple hundred thousand
00:37 dollars, or whatever it might be.
00:39 Even for programs as big as Ohio State that are printing money,
00:43 you still got to be fiscally responsible.
00:45 So maybe that was the reason for the delay,
00:47 just speculation on my part.
00:49 But ultimately, I think that was a move that needed to be made.
00:52 And again, I'm not glad to see anybody lose their job,
00:57 but I think it's better for Ohio State football
00:59 that they look for a new special teams coach.

01:06 But it's just stuff that we even watched in the Cotton Bowl.
01:10 The special teams was just letting you down.
01:12 And as you see, special teams, yes, it's
01:15 a third of the game that oftentimes,
01:17 from a fan perspective, gets looked over.
01:19 They're going to punt.
01:20 You get up.
01:20 You go to refill your drink.
01:21 You go fill up your chips.
01:22 And then all of a sudden, it's this flip of possession.
01:24 It's so huge in many types of football games.
01:28 And it can be the difference when
01:29 you start getting in these highly leveraged games, which
01:31 we are going to have next year with the influx of the new Big
01:35 Ten teams, that special teams is important.
01:37 And this is a good move for Ohio State.
01:39 It can't be a third of the game that you just disregard.
01:42 This needs to be a third where you're elite at,
01:45 just like Ohio State is at every other on offense and defense.
