If you’ve not seen it before, prepare to leap out of your seats and then have your breath taken away by the ending. If you have seen it before, you will love seeing how it all works as 2:22 A Ghost Story heads to Chichester Festival Theatre from Tuesday to Saturday, February 6-10.

00:00 Good afternoon, my name is Phil Kewitt, Group Arts Editor at Sussex Newspapers. Big pleasure
00:06 this afternoon to speak to Vera Chok, who is heading to the Chichester Festival Theatre
00:10 early in February, probably the 6th to the 10th, with '222 - A Ghost Story'. Now, I
00:17 saw it last year.
00:18 Hi, I'm so excited to meet you.
00:20 Yes, and it's so fantastic to see it again, knowing the twist, and you go into this knowing
00:25 the twist. It's quite some journey we go through with this one, isn't it?
00:30 Absolutely. I think it starts off in a very familiar territory, you know, everyone's been
00:35 to a dinner party, and then things rapidly get very tense. And I think the audience and
00:44 the characters are taken on a ride.
00:46 Yeah.
00:47 And it's so interesting, when you got the part, you went to see it in Brighton with
00:51 the previous cast.
00:52 Yes.
00:53 And it's great to see the audience reaction, and the audience reaction is great, isn't
00:57 it?
00:58 It was so much energy, and like, the air was crackling. And it was so fun to sort of jump
01:04 out of our chairs together and scream together. Yeah, I loved being a part of the audience.
01:11 How scared were you then? This is scary, isn't it?
01:16 It's a little bit scary. But it wasn't sort of like, rock me to the core, terrifying.
01:22 It was more sort of, there's so much at stake. So when I talk about fear, you fear for the
01:27 characters, you fear what they're going to lose. And then you have like good old fashioned
01:33 like, boo, scares, which are all manageable. I assure you, if you're nervous, like I am,
01:40 it's all going to be fine.
01:41 But you're making the point, it's not just about scaring the pants off us. It's actually
01:45 very funny too, isn't it?
01:47 Yeah, yeah. Oh my goodness, we're having such a great time rehearsing. We're like rolling
01:52 on the floor, like crying with laughter funny.
01:55 But then jumping out of your skin.
01:59 Yeah, there's a good rapport because yeah, it's two couples. And there's a lot of like
02:04 witty dialogue, lots of really nice jokes, joke, like the level of joking you have with,
02:09 you know, an old friend, or that kind of like, jokey bickery stuff that you have with your
02:14 spouse or whatever. So it's all great.
02:18 It's a lovely prospect to see again. Good luck with everything.
02:21 Thank you.
02:22 Thank you so much.
02:23 I look forward to being there.
02:24 Thank you.
02:25 Yeah, thanks.
02:25 - Bye. - Bye.
