00:00 (shushing)
00:02 Sorry.
00:03 (snoring)
00:13 What's good y'all, it's your girl Lola Brooke
00:19 and welcome to my mind massage.
00:22 Lola.
00:29 I'm going to take you through a sound journey
00:33 using my favorite things.
00:36 (clicking)
00:38 (clinking)
00:51 (clinking)
00:53 (crunching)
00:57 (clinking)
00:59 (crunching)
01:01 Mm.
01:07 (crunching)
01:09 (blowing)
01:17 (inhaling)
01:24 (blowing)
01:26 (clinking)
01:28 (clinking)
01:30 (blowing)
01:32 (crunching)
01:42 (popping)
01:53 (tapping)
01:56 I picked ginger ale 'cause it hit the spot.
01:59 And when I had to go to the store for my mom
02:02 to get ginger ale, it was either grape,
02:06 raspberry,
02:08 or original.
02:11 Schweppes.
02:14 Schweppes is the brand to get.
02:17 Schweppes.
02:21 Brooklyn, Brooklyn, Brooklyn, Brooklyn, Brooklyn.
02:24 I'm from Brooklyn.
02:26 I'm a little biased.
02:28 And my sound is very unapologetic,
02:32 very aggressive,
02:37 and very cultural.
02:40 Hip hop was born in New York City, remember?
02:44 I hope you remember.
02:46 Well, I was the only child.
02:50 So, I mean, like,
02:53 I didn't have no one to speak to.
02:56 Mom was a single parent.
02:59 I was lonely, very lonely.
03:03 So now I'm not lonely anymore.
03:05 I rap music.
03:07 I'm not lonely anymore.
03:10 I write music.
03:12 So that's why I'm a rapper,
03:15 'cause I was lonely.
03:17 It ain't much to it.
03:20 Some of my biggest inspirations would be
03:23 Lil Wayne, 50 Cent, Meek Mills.
03:30 Because 50 Cent had the New York culture.
03:35 He was what I've seen every day walking outside.
03:39 Lil Wayne had the punchlines,
03:41 and Meek Mill had the hunger.
03:44 (pages rustling)
03:47 This is the key to success.
03:54 (laughs)
03:57 My mom got me a keychain
03:59 of my dog, Pom.
04:02 He recently just passed.
04:08 So I keep this with me.
04:12 It means a lot to me.
04:14 He's probably barking at me right now.
04:16 I've had my dog since 2009, 2010,
04:23 and his birthday was May 18th.
04:27 So now my boy is just like my sibling.
04:32 Gucci was like my sibling, my first brother.
04:36 And he still is, and he's still here.
04:39 But I keep him with me all the time.
04:42 (keys jingling)
04:44 The inspiration behind Dennis Daughter was,
04:50 as you see, I like to live in my moments,
04:53 but it's been hard.
04:55 So I carry Gucci around,
04:57 and now I get to carry my dad name around everywhere I go.
05:02 So I'm not just Lola Brooke.
05:05 I'm Dennis Daughter.
05:06 So that's where the inspiration came from,
05:10 of me just trying to relive my childhood.
05:13 And I would love to hear the nickname
05:15 with my dad being involved with it.
05:18 So Dennis Daughter, Gucci sister.
05:23 (laughs)
05:25 One of my favorite songs of my project,
05:29 Dennis Daughter, would be "Dare Dennis,"
05:32 because it's really like a letter,
05:36 and I'm letting the world know
05:37 that I'm still bonding with my dad.
05:40 So it's just me just putting my feelings out on a plate
05:45 with no regrets.
05:49 And I always feel my dad's presence.
05:53 So now I'm really never gonna not feel his presence.
05:57 It's like gonna stick with me forever.
05:59 Working with a featured artist on my project,
06:06 I feel like it was needed.
06:08 French Montana is from New York City.
06:12 Bryson has a raw, authentic,
06:16 it reminds you of like modern day music,
06:22 but still like, oh, you could tell that he studies music.
06:27 And I study music too.
06:29 Lotto and Young Miami,
06:31 not the girls we play with.
06:35 So don't play with them.
06:37 And Koi Ineja is from New Jersey.
06:39 So I tapped into New Jersey club base.
06:43 And only way to pay homage is if you do it right.
06:47 So I had to cross over the Highland Tunnel
06:50 to go grab Koi Ineja.
06:53 If I could time travel back to an era of music,
06:59 it would be the 2000s.
07:05 Because everything was just,
07:08 it was new, it felt fresh,
07:12 but it still was very much,
07:15 it was my childhood.
07:18 Who don't like to revisit their childhood?
07:20 All my life I was saying, I wanna be grown.
07:24 I wanna grow up.
07:26 And now I'm grown and adulthood sucks.
07:30 So if I could go back to music that made me feel like
07:35 the child, the amazing child that I was,
07:40 I will go back to the 2000s.
07:41 (blows air)
07:44 (clattering)
07:46 (blows air)
07:49 (blows air)
07:51 (blows air)
07:53 (blows air)
08:22 Do I look good?
08:24 I hope so.
08:25 This right here is a lifesaver.
08:28 I get flyaways on my wig.
08:32 I have to put the flyaways down.
08:34 Let's not, let's not get too far away from reality.
08:41 This is a girl's best friend.
08:44 We have hair that we can't control.
08:46 Even when you see like a fly or mosquito bite,
08:49 you just.
08:51 (smacks lips)
08:52 I'm telling you, he gon' freeze.
08:54 If I can collab with any artist dead or alive,
09:00 it would be Pop Smoke.
09:02 His energy was just like so refreshing.
09:07 It felt really familiar.
09:10 And he's like my fellow Brooklyn bro.
09:14 Like he was literally from the same place as me.
09:18 And we both have the same pitch voices.
09:21 So I think the collab would be like.
09:25 Lit.
09:26 Gimme lit.
09:27 I'm hot dog.
09:28 Gimme lit.
09:29 (growls)
09:30 Girl in my.
09:31 (blows air)
09:31 Run in the air.
09:32 Ah.
09:33 One in the.
09:34 (blows air)
09:35 Baby.
09:36 Baby don't trip.
09:38 Just lower your toes.
09:40 'Cause you can get hit.
09:41 (laughs)
09:43 (blows air)
09:45 (blows air)
09:49 Mm.
09:54 Fenty.
09:59 Rihanna.
10:02 I love Rihanna.
10:04 And I love Fenty so much.
10:06 Wait, hold on.
10:10 Let me get cute real quick.
10:11 Let me get cute.
10:13 Oh, oh, oh.
10:15 I'm gonna go in my bag.
10:17 Fenty.
10:28 Oh.
10:32 (laughs)
10:33 We gotta use the mirror.
10:35 (blows air)
10:40 (blows air)
10:42 My best self love advice would be
10:47 look in the mirror
10:50 and embrace what you see.
10:53 Whether it's good or bad,
10:57 embrace it.
10:58 And if you feel like you wanna fix something
11:00 about yourself,
11:02 make sure it's because you wanna fix it.
11:05 Again.
11:07 You wanna fix it.
11:09 Thank you so much
11:12 for tuning in to my
11:15 mind massage.
11:17 I hope you enjoyed it.
11:19 And I hope I stay on your mind all day.
11:24 Make sure to check out my debut project,
11:28 Dennis Daughter.
11:29 Out now.
11:31 (electronic beeping)
