00:00 The Education Department and the Commission on Higher Education
00:04 have agreed to continue the Senior High School Program in the country.
00:08 This was explained by two agencies in the hearing of the House Committee on Basic Education and Culture.
00:14 They only had confusion after the SHED released a memorandum
00:20 until the transition period of the SHA Program in the state and local universities and colleges.
00:27 SHED Chair Divera was surprised by the fact that the Higher Education Institutions
00:34 discussed the program with their board.
00:38 The board members were also told to be clear with the message of each agency
00:43 so that it will not cause any concern.
00:46 The Vice President has already given out instructions that DEPED
00:52 because of the situation of having 17,751 learners in grade 11
00:58 DEPED will again be extending our voucher program to the grade 11 learners in SUCs and LUCs for this current school year
01:11 and DEPED will again extend the voucher program when they enter grade 12 next year.
01:18 Provided that a memorandum of agreement is executed between DEPED and SHED to provide a clear timeline.
01:26 So I guess with that sir, I think that is our brief summary of the matter and what we plan to do.
01:32 But aside from that, we'd like to inform the committee that we've already instructed our team to also plot out
01:39 where our SUCs and LUCs are located, how many learners per region are affected, which is the 17,751
01:50 and to determine how many DEPED schools that are offered by Senior High Schools
01:57 and also private schools that are offered by Senior High Schools are located within the area.
