Should the New York Giants re-sign pending UFA QB Tyrod Taylor.
Transcript
00:00 After a disastrous 2021 season in which the New York Giants,
00:04 who had cut corners on securing a backup quarterback,
00:07 learned the hard way about the importance of having competence at the position,
00:11 the team went out and landed themselves the best possible backup quarterback in the 2022 free agent market,
00:18 Tyrod Taylor.
00:19 Taylor, who has been around over a decade, has proven to be a great addition to the locker room
00:25 and a viable option when called upon to step in for injured starter Daniel Jones.
00:30 But if there's one drawback to Taylor's game, it's that he seems to get dinged every time he's asked to play.
00:36 So that begs the question if it makes sense for the Giants to re-sign the pending free agent,
00:41 who has shown that he can be productive when healthy, and pressed into action.
00:46 Or should the Giants go a completely different route?
00:49 General Manager Joe Shane hasn't ruled out bringing back Taylor,
00:53 though then again he probably wasn't going to say otherwise.
00:56 But with the Giants in the position to draft a quarterback from a very deep class,
01:01 and with them having some other needs to address, and, at least currently, limited resources to do so,
01:07 Taylor could end up being a luxury that they might not be able to afford in the end.
