00:00 Meanwhile, in the middle of the plan to improve the river Pasig,
00:04 thousands of people are afraid of losing their homes.
00:09 But some LGUs have promised to continue the project.
00:14 Maris Umali was able to make it.
00:16 The Pasig River Urban Development Project aims to rehabilitate the river.
00:24 This project will include placing 10-meter easements in some tributaries of the river, like the San Juan River.
00:31 This will provide a pathway to the Linear Park, which will also have different facilities.
00:36 We will also place a lot of greeneries.
00:39 We will also place MRFs, or Material Recovery Facilities, Rain Harvesting Facility,
00:47 and also sewerage treatment plants, courtesy of DNR.
00:51 It will also have a jogging path, walkway and bikeway.
00:55 There are three aspects to this.
00:57 First is the housing.
00:59 Next, of course, are the area of activity, where our countrymen can go and become tourist spots, scenic spots.
01:08 Third is what is called intermodal transportation.
01:12 This will be connected to ferries.
01:15 But to make this project, up to 5,000 families will be affected.
01:19 One family, of Eveline's mother, was able to relocate because of the project.
01:24 To be honest, we really don't want to leave San Juan.
01:28 Because, to be honest, we are San Juan's citizens.
01:32 This is where we will find our lives.
01:34 This is where we will grow old.
01:36 I hope that this is also where we want to die.
01:39 The government is confident that the residents will be given free housing.
01:45 In our F. Manalo area, we currently have three large lots owned by San Juan's LGU.
01:54 We will propose these lots to Secretary Cusar.
01:57 If this is approved and based on the design,
02:01 if they can build 25-story public housing buildings in these three lots,
02:08 I estimate that in these three lots, it will be around 3,000 units.
02:13 This is a medium-rise, meaning 25-story to 20-story.
02:18 To finish the 25-story, it will take about one year and a half to two years.
02:24 The local government of San Juan promised that there will be a staging area
02:29 or temporary relocation of informal settlers
02:32 that will be affected while the housing units they will relocate are being built.
02:36 For GMA Integrated News, Maris Umali, for Tutok, 24 hours.
