WEF Chief: new economic shocks could derail bounceback

Despite inflation coming down, Saadia Zahidi, Managing Director of the World Economic Forum, says the world faces major economic difficulties. Zahidi told CGTN at #wef #davos2024 that new economic shocks could follow.

00:00 I think we shouldn't forget that while inflation may be starting to come down,
00:04 it does mean that consumers are facing elevated prices compared to the way they were a year ago or two years ago.
00:11 So I think that concern continues.
00:13 And for example, in our global risk report last week,
00:15 we found that the cost of living crisis is still one of the top 10 concerns in 2024.
00:21 So that continues to bite.
00:22 And of course, inflation, where certainly I think it's not conclusive
00:27 that we've reached a positive scenario,
00:31 that's number seven out of our 10 risks in the global risk report for the next two years.
00:36 So that's not about just this year alone.
00:38 There's still concern that this could continue.
00:40 And I think that's understandable, given everything that's happening in the world right now.
00:43 There may be new shocks, and that's what people are concerned about.
