00:05 Hello, I'm Joseph Anderson, the Scotsman's Health Correspondent.
00:09 Good morning from an absolutely baltic Edinburgh.
00:12 Fortunately for me, I've been nice and warm in the building behind me,
00:15 the Edinburgh International Conference Centre,
00:17 where the UK COVID inquiry has held its first public hearing outside of London.
00:22 This morning, Jamie Dawson-Casey, the lead counsel to the inquiry,
00:26 set out what to expect for the next couple of weeks.
00:29 High on the agenda, according to Mr Dawson,
00:32 is the Scottish Government's WhatsApp messaging.
00:34 Now, he said it's been with great difficulty and several requests
00:38 that they've managed to finally get 28,000 messages
00:42 from the Scottish Government relating to pandemic governance.
00:46 We've also heard a very moving testimony,
00:49 previously filmed testimony of survivors of the pandemic and people who are bereaved.
00:55 We're set to hear a lot more about that later on this afternoon
00:58 when we have the Scottish COVID Bereaved Group
01:01 and we have several third sector and charity organisations
01:04 set to give their opinion on how Scotland handled the pandemic
01:08 and the personal tragedies that befell much of us during that time.
01:12 We'll have more as it comes.
