00:00 Today we're in Roxe Diamonds and Thrills.
00:02 Roxe is an award-winning British luxury jewellers.
00:05 We were founded 21 years ago in Glasgow
00:08 and we specialise in diamond jewellery and watches.
00:10 So Valentine's Day is one of our busiest seasons.
00:13 Obviously there's lots of February proposals
00:14 and weddings and everything.
00:17 So yeah, we really get a bit of buzz from Valentine's Day.
00:20 Lots of gifts going on.
00:22 It's always good to have an idea of whether your partner
00:24 likes to wear gold or silver-toned jewellery
00:26 and match that with the ring that you go for.
00:29 Make sure you try and come in, I'd say, about eight weeks in advance
00:31 just so you've got enough time to make sure that you get the ring made
00:34 in their perfect size and style.
00:36 So yeah, about eight weeks before you want to propose is ideal.
00:39 And also sometimes getting a wee second opinion
00:42 from maybe one of their friends or family members.
00:44 Get to know if they've mentioned anything to them
00:46 and so you know you're getting exactly what they like.
00:48 So diamonds in particular have been a symbol of love and romance
00:52 for hundreds and hundreds of years.
00:54 So there's really a special significance behind them as well.
00:57 It's something that they're going to wear forever
01:00 and basically something they're never going to take off.
01:02 So once they find their perfect ring, they'll never want to.
01:04 So obviously you've got all of your different cuts
01:06 as well as your different metal types.
01:08 Gold bands have really been back in this year as well as radiants.
01:14 So that's like a rectangular cut
01:16 with slightly different facets cut into it than your regular emeralds.
01:20 Ovals have been going strong for quite a while now.
01:22 So I'd say radiants and ovals are really taking by storm this year.
01:26 And also people are going for a sort of thinner band look.
01:28 I would never recommend kind of going below about 1.8 millimetre
01:31 because it gets too thin.
01:32 But yeah that looks really in at the moment.
01:34 So the first thing that's best to do is have a wee look in our windows.
01:38 See what you kind of like, what you think your partner would like
01:40 and what you're drawn to.
01:41 One of our sales assistants will come and help you
01:44 and point them out to what they want in the window and bring you upstairs.
01:47 We'll then talk you through Rox's 5Cs.
01:50 So these are the five most important things to consider
01:53 when you're buying your engagement ring
01:54 and when you're looking at diamonds.
01:56 You've got your cut, colour, clarity, certification and carat weight.
02:00 Then your assistant will bring you up some different choices
02:05 and we can talk you through them and see which one you like the most.
