00:00 5 minutes lost on Monday, 4 recovered on Tuesday, Sébastien Loeb, ProDrive, has won his 4th victory in the Dakar 2024 by scoring the best time of the 9th stage, coming back to 20 minutes 33 of Carlos Sainz, Audi, in the overall ranking.
00:16 At the end of a well-managed special from start to finish, despite two punctures, the Alsatian signs the 27th stage victory of his career in the Dakar.
00:26 "We know that 20 minutes is a lot, on a regular basis it's going to be very complicated to catch up with Carlos Sainz. We are trying to attack hard, we can't do much more", the Frenchman said at his arrival at the bivouac, which only has three stages left to overthrow the general by the time he arrives in Iambu on the banks of the Red Sea, on Friday.
00:46 Sainz managed his lead in the over 400 km special, with dunes, rocky tracks and complicated navigation. El Matador drove in Audi escort, well surrounded by his teammates Mathias Ekström and Stéphane Petter Ancel from start to finish.
01:03 "It was a good stage, in the end it was stressful in the car with difficult navigation but our cars were driving all three together, I knew I had support behind", said the Madrilenian.
01:15 The Frenchman Mathieu Ceradori, Century, in two-wheel drive, offers a nice third place to 4 minutes 43 of his compatriot Sébastien Loeb. The days follow and look like for the holders of the title, Nasser Alatia and his co-pilot Mathieu Baumel, Prodrive.
01:32 They have left the special again after. A kilometer of race due to a mechanical problem. A second concern for the duo that forced them to leave the Dakar. Brabec digs the gap.
01:46 On the motorcycle side, the Frenchman Adrien Van Deveren, Honda, has set his second success of the edition, the fifth of his career on the Dakar, by signing the best time in front of his American teammate Ricky Brabec at 42 seconds.
01:59 VBA has driven in front of a large part of the stage, glancing at the bonuses that make it go up to third place in the overall ranking.
02:08 "I'm worn out, I've opened almost the whole special, at the end we didn't see the tracks at all. It was endless, I had to slow down to navigate. I couldn't do better than that", the Frenchman said at the end of the race.
02:24 Leader of the general, Ricky Brabec had a goal in mind, "Today was one of my only chances to attack and try to dig the gap", with Ross Branch, Dolphin of the general, to declare the American.
02:36 Mission accomplished for him, if the Botswanese of Cheiro was at 42 seconds Tuesday morning, he falls back at 7 minutes 09 at the end of the stage.
02:46 "I lost time, I made navigation errors. At least I'm not opening tomorrow, Wednesday, I'll be able to attack", said Ross Branch.
02:55 The race was more complicated for the Chilean Ignacio Cornjo, Honda, who ends at 10 minutes 07 of VBA and falls to fourth place in the overall ranking, plus 13 minutes 46 in the general.
03:08 Too far behind to play the first places, Pablo Quintanilla, the other Chilean of Honda, completes this triple on the podium of the stage for the Frenchman's red bikes at 4 minutes 29.
03:18 Wednesday for the tenth stage, the competitors will have to slalom in the monumental rocks of the Alula region on a 371 km special, with navigation traps to be foreseen.
