Why the New York Giants shouldn't re-sign UFA CB Adoree Jackson.
Transcript
00:00 The New York Giants addition of cornerback Adoree Jackson has yielded some mixed results.
00:06 Right from the start, there were critics who felt that the team overpaid for the former
00:10 Titans first-round draft pick.
00:12 The argument had its merits.
00:14 For one, in three seasons as a Giant, Jackson has yet to make it through an entire campaign
00:19 because of injuries.
00:21 And considering that he became the number one cornerback on the team following the departure
00:25 of James Bradbury after the 2021 season, Jackson has managed just two career interceptions
00:31 and 23 pass breakups in 37 games played as a Giant, hardly worth top dollar.
00:38 And so with Jackson at the end of his Giants contract, he does have a voidable year in
00:42 2024.
00:44 And with youngster Deontay Banks, who next year will be in year two of his rookie deal,
00:48 having earned the unofficial title of number one cornerback, the Giants are all but likely
00:52 to move on from Jackson this offseason in favor of a cheaper and younger option who
00:57 will be part of the competition to be the bookend to Banks for the foreseeable future.
