00:03 Seven vacancies still remain around the National Football League.
00:07 Here they are, the Atlanta Falcons, the Carolina Panthers, Las Vegas Raiders,
00:12 Los Angeles Chargers, Seattle Seahawks, Tennessee Titans, and
00:16 the Washington Commanders.
00:18 As you look at the seven spots, Tony, that need a new head coach entering 2024's
00:23 NFL campaign, which spot do you think is the most attractive?
00:28 >> It's hard, let's go one by one here quickly, cuz again,
00:31 we're not gonna burn like three hours on all these teams.
00:33 The Atlanta Falcons for me is interesting because you play in the NFC South,
00:36 which is a very winnable division.
00:38 Also, you're taking a look at an owner in Arthur Blank that wants to win desperately.
00:41 So that would be attractive to me because you're gonna get the keys to
00:43 the franchise.
00:44 So Bill Belichick goes to the Atlanta Falcons,
00:46 there's not gonna be a GM overlooking them, a president of football operations.
00:50 Whoever's gonna go there, probably gonna be a primo name, but
00:52 also they're gonna get the keys to the franchise, that's very attractive.
00:55 The Carolina Panthers for me, not as attractive, but for a guy,
00:59 once again, we'll use Bill Belichick, it's a great opportunity.
01:02 Because you have David Tepper's gonna have a blank check and say,
01:04 I've made so many mistakes, somebody just rescued me.
01:07 I promise I'll stay out of it.
01:08 You hire whoever you want, you get the keys to the franchise.
01:11 So for a guy like Bill Belichick, for me, those first two organizations are fantastic
01:15 because I'm used to getting my way in New England, and rightfully so.
01:18 He's got the Super Bowls to prove it, that's the way I wanna do it.
01:21 I don't wanna go be a coach and
01:22 have a GM tell me I can't control my own 53-man roster.
01:25 And who I'm bringing in a free agency and who might work.
01:27 And also, if I'm gonna say, I love this offensive coordinator and
01:30 Josh McDaniels, no, you're not hiring that guy, I'm gonna hire another one.
01:33 So those ones, the first two, Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers,
01:36 I think you have the most autonomy as a head coach.
01:39 If you break it down from a Raiders perspective, look, it's still Mark Davis.
01:42 He's been known to hire TV general managers and high up guys like Gruden to
01:47 give him the keys to the franchise.
01:48 It's also a decent look, but again, you're battling against Andy Reid and
01:51 also Patrick Mahomes each and every year.
01:53 And Patrick Mahomes being in his prime, that's a tough gig to go over.
01:57 Chargers, you got Dean Spanos as an ownership group here, Ben.
01:59 You're taking a look at him and saying, well,
02:01 I know I don't have the keys to the franchise.
02:02 He's gonna do what he wants and I'll just be a coach.
02:04 But again, you're gonna have Justin Herbert, but
02:06 also, as I just talked about the Raiders.
02:08 You're going up against Patrick Mahomes here for
02:10 at least the next five to seven years in his prime.
02:12 That's a tough sell.
02:13 Seattle, a decent landing spot as well, somebody to be there.
02:16 Tennessee Titans, average spot here.
02:18 Washington Commanders is very interesting because you have Josh Harrison.
02:21 I think they're setting that organization up correctly, but
02:24 I don't think you're gonna get the keys to the franchise here
02:27 with the infrastructure already settled in.
02:29 So if we're looking at spots that a head coach would wanna take and
02:32 get full control, Ben, it's listed one, two there.
02:34 The Atlanta Falcons and the Carolina Panthers.
