00:13 This is a really special film, and it's
00:15 one that was life-changing for me getting to work on.
00:19 It's about a girl named Melody who is in sixth grade
00:23 and struggles with all the things
00:24 that those of us who went through sixth grade
00:27 struggled with.
00:29 Social acceptance and getting to know herself
00:33 and learning to speak up for herself.
00:35 And most importantly, it's also about other people
00:39 learning to take the time to listen.
00:41 Melody is somebody who is nonverbal.
00:44 And what we learn is that it's not
00:46 about how Melody communicates.
00:48 It's actually about what she has to say and understanding
00:52 that everybody communicates in a different way.
00:55 I think that this is the first mainstream movie
00:57 about a child with a disability played by a kid
01:00 with that same disability.
01:02 And our lead actress is named Phoebe Ray Taylor,
01:05 and she is phenomenal.
01:06 And I think you're going to really love her.
01:08 And all the kids in it are really, really amazing.
01:11 We've been working on it for a while,
01:13 and I'm very, very proud of it.
01:15 And I am very excited to share with audiences.
01:18 And I think that's actually the best
01:21 thing about being at Sundance.
01:22 I mean, we make movies to connect with each other.
01:24 We make movies to have that human-to-human connection.
01:27 And so to me, there's nothing more satisfying
01:29 than getting to screen your work for an audience
01:33 and then immediately getting their reaction
01:35 and getting to hear their thoughts and their questions
01:37 and their input.
