00:00 Hey guys, it's Sydney Sweeney and I'm going to give Marie Claire a personal look into my little library.
00:06 Welcome to Show the Portrait.

00:14 So some of the books I've read recently during quarantine have been We Used to Be Friends by Amy Spaulding,
00:21 which is about two friends who kind of lose their friendship and it's told in dual timelines and so
00:29 you kind of put the different pieces together as you read.

00:34 I love reading either in my bedroom or sitting outside somewhere.
00:39 I constantly read The Care and Keeping of You. It's a book where girls learn about
00:46 their changing bodies and like growing up and I was obsessed with
00:50 reading it and trying to figure out what the hell is gonna happen.

00:55 Again but Better by Christine Uccio. It's about a girl who lies to her parents to follow her dream
01:02 of becoming a writer in Europe and she falls in love with a boy but things don't go the way that
01:09 she wants and she's forced to go back home but then like we all wish that we could do,
01:15 she gets a second chance and she meets a fairy godmother and she gets to retry everything
01:23 and do it all again for better.
01:26 They Wish They Were Us by Jessica Goodman. This is something I highly recommend. Not only
01:33 is it an amazing book but I am actually going to be producing this into a limited series with my
01:38 company 50/50 Films and I partnered with Jean-Marc Vallee and Nathan Ross's Crazy Rose.
01:44 I'm gonna play Jill and Kalzi will be playing Rachel so it's a great read. It's a murder mystery
01:52 and it's a lot of fun.
01:54 I have definitely thought about writing a book. I constantly try to write the first sentence and I
02:01 don't really know where to start. When I read I always have a notebook with me and I write in
02:06 the notebook and I never really write in the actual book though. I would love to see The Grace
02:12 Year by Kim Lajet in Turned Into A Movie. It's like a YA anime style and it's unbelievable.
02:21 What Books Have You Read?
02:24 Down on my bottom two shelves I have books that I read in school. They are all books that I felt
02:33 like I really learned something from and I hope that I will read sometime again. There's this one
02:38 book called Entrepreneurship and it's basically teaching and helping you learn how to manage
02:48 ideas within your own organization or within yourself and I really felt like I learned a lot
02:55 from this and it's a great read and for anyone doing anything I think you can take away a lot from it.
03:01 Thank you for watching Shelf Portrait and don't forget to watch Nocturne.
