00:00 It's the second half of the NBA season already. I can't believe we've hit that halfway mark threshold.
00:07 As we look back on the first half, what is something that has surprised you when it comes to this NBA season?
00:13 I got a surprise and a pleasant surprise. The surprise to me is the Rockets.
00:17 And we thought, you know, they got a new coach, they added some veteran players, but they're still flirting with the playoffs.
00:27 They're overshadowed by the football team in their town, but nobody's really worried about the Rockets.
00:33 I still think they may make the playoffs. They're having a surprising year.
00:37 But like you, I watch a lot of NBA, and I'm just blown away by the scoring that's going on in this league.
00:45 I covered the NBA in the '90s. When I went to the NBA Finals, it was Spurs-Knicks. It was the first one to 80 wins.
00:52 I'm not kidding. There were games in the '80s of that series.
00:56 '80 is the third quarter mark.
00:57 '80 was our halftime. This is going to be the highest scoring league for the NBA since the early '80s. '81, '82.
01:06 This takes me back to when I was a kid watching the old ABA.
01:09 They had red, white, blue basketballs, and teams scored in the 130s. I was like, "This is amazing."
01:14 Literally, every night you see 125, 130, 140. It's a sign of defenses. They're just not as intense.
01:26 They're not as dedicated to defense. The traveling and carrying the ball is out of control.
01:33 Offensive players have such an advantage. But the result is, wow, it's entertaining.
01:39 It's amazing basketball to see. If you want to see 130 points and ignore the violation, you're going to be really entertained with the NBA.
01:46 Three-pointers galore.
01:47 Yeah.
